France defender Raphael Varane said his Manchester United team-mates were obviously affected by Cristiano Ronaldo’s comments in a television interview that he did not respect manager Erik ten Hag and felt betrayed by the Premier League side.

In an explosive interview with TalkTV that has cast doubts about his future at the club, Ronaldo said he was being forced out of the side he joined in August 2021 for his second spell after winning eight major trophies with them from 2003-2009.

United said they would address the Portuguese forward’s comments only after establishing the full facts but Varane said the situation had impacted players.

UPDATE: A mural featuring Cristiano Ronaldo outside Old Trafford has been removed. This has been described as a coincidence by the club as branding is being taken down ahead of Saturday’s Rugby League World Cup Final.

  1. Why did Ronaldo come out and say it though? Nothing new was said, no insight whatsoever..And nothing good could ever come from it, except for himself if he gets released from his contract. This interview was nothing short of a disgrace, and damaging for Manchester United Football club. Of course, if you are a Ronaldo fan first and foremost you dont care.. But for United fans this should be upsetting you, period.

  2. Magnified and exaggerated. Ronaldo wasn’t putting anyone down he was just speaking facts and why hasn’t nobody looked at the fact that he has suffered a loss of a child recently. He is saying todays generation have got it easier then the previous which is fine to say that’s his experience as he had to graft quite a bit. Every gen will say that about the previous one what’s the big deal the common man says the same thing. If Man U haven’t made investment in the club then they should anyone would be shocked if they went back to their old company and it was exactly the same of where you left it. Blimey media love making a big deal out of things!
I do think the both parties should have tried to deal with matters amicably but unfortunately that didn’t happen sometimes relationships and communications do break down and trust and confidence is lost.

  3. The mural contains other united players…… Lol, is it collateral damage or the media is making a fuss of standard procedure

  4. Ronaldo Put the whole teaam in Bad light …thats Not good ! Thats why Bruno is dissapointed !!…He only thinks about himself
Man the Guy Said in terms of Technology, Kitchen etc .. Manu has a decline ! Imagine how the Players feel Now 🤦

  5. Media criticizing Ronaldo should know they are also making money due to him now…plus as a general practise media makes money out of failure/success of famous people. Of course they will blow the interview out of proportion

  6. All of the comments on your videos against Ronaldo are all positive favoring Ronaldo. Im just curious what is Sky Sports' agenda trying soooo hard to destroy Ronaldo.

  7. Man united players are crap! Where were we in the league last year?? So him telling the truth, lazy players earning 3 times than teams that beat us last year! Coach is mediocre! Owners mediocre! Players mediocre! Newcastle better than united??? What star player do they have???

  8. The sooner that Ronaldo is as far away from Man Utd, the better. Ask Real Madrid why they got rid of Ronaldo, and it was because he thought he was too big for the team. True colours and ego are out now!

  9. MU hasn't won the champions since 2008, and hasn't won the Premier League since 2012-13, there are no competitive conditions at MU, the Manager is a mediocre who loves to humiliate greatness ( putting him playing 3 minutes before the end of the game), the owners don't care and get the club more and more into serious debt, the fans are entitled ,so why is everybody surprised ????? Sometimes you need to destroy something in order to rebuild it.

  10. MU hasn't won the champions since 2008, and hasn't won the Premier League since 2012-13, there are no competitive conditions at MU, the Manager is a mediocre who loves to humiliate greatness ( putting him playing 3 minutes before the end of the game to assert that he is not mediocre), the owners don't care and get the club more and more into serious debt, the British media is demeaning and extremely nasty, so why is everybody surprised ????? Sometimes you need to destroy something in order to rebuild it. Why the H did he go back to MU? That is the real question.
