Why are we not going after David and if he's interested in coming, get a pre contract agreement in place. Otherwise we will lose out again in the summer. Having said that, I would pay Villa for Duran, take him on loan with an obligation. We may have to hold off in another department because of it, but I don't mind.

Gomes would be superb. Exactly the type of deep-lying playmaker (I know he also plays further forward) we’re after. I’d bid 20-25m now and try to guarantee it. There will be bigger + better clubs in for him
Please – hands off Jonathan David! While I am a lifelong Hammers fan, I am also a supporter of my adopted country's national team – Canada.. And given West Ham's poor record with recruiting strikers, I don't want them ruining David's continued development as an effective scoring threat, especially with the 2026 World Cup coming to Canada, Mexico and the U.S. Leave David to go to a top tier team where he can be used as a compliment to a team with depth, and not a "saviour" with a team on a rebuild. Sorry, with 2026 around the corner, country comes before club on this occasion. "Allez Les Rouges!"
Lol. Ok. Just one problem. Free transfers for top players are not free, you pay at least half of the fee you would have to the player as a bonus. Cheapskate Sully will not pay that kind of money to a player.

We stand MORE chance of getting players like Gomes IF we have European football next season, therefore personally I think it would be absolutely idiotic and showing zero ambition from the club to not strengthen this window, Bowen is NOT a striker…but can do a job there, even if just a loan (if a proven striker is coming in the summer) we have to get a striker this window ….. personally if Jonathan David is the #1 striker target ….then go get him now !!! As a team with possibly no European football next season..we stand no chance of getting him ahead of others in the summer…..if Jonathan David is not our #1 target? Then go and get Duran..THIS WINDOW!!!!

Both of them would be amazing. Exactly what we need. Still young, will have resale value. Gomes homegrown too. Good move for the players too – first-team football rather than sitting on the bench of a "big" club. So, no chance of us getting either.
Let's face it, top players in Ligue 1 could probably make it as half decent players for 7th-12th teams. I can't see David going to somewhere like Arsenal & Gomes is small BUT they're both good players with talent, I don't see why we couldn't attempt to get them.

This shows why giving Potter a 6 month deal would of been counter productive… I think we gave GP his 2½ year deal bcos the type of forward planning and thinking manager he is would of been incompatible with a short term deal – the comments he has made about being happy with the squad and also that he is pushing for pre-contract agreements for Gomes and David, show that he is planning for next season… That wouldn't really be possible on a 6 month deal with caveats that needed to be reached to activate an extension – I mean it wouldn't be smart to turn down the opportunity to sign players now if it's this season that determines your future… I've seen the benefit of a short 6 month deal with Moyes in the past but don't think it would of worked with Graham Potter…
And if Bowen plays up front on his return and scores loads of goals like he did last season when he played there, then why would Jonathan David want to join us, when we already have a striker who would be already delivering for us? It’ll be an alternative we’ll be targeting in the summer if Bowen is given the go ahead.
For the record, he’s talking about a rumour that was reported by one of the most unreliable reporters around, Graeme Bailey. It’s a non story.
We need to stop signing strikers from abroad. We’re really bad at it. Sign a striker already delivering in this country if we’re going to bring any in, whether that’s the chap from Fulham, Delap, etc.
