I think something you should’ve touched on is that despite having the proverbial goose that lays the golden egg in the Paris suburbs supplying the French national team with talent on talent, he plays boring football. France does not go out and dominate games and play their way, they’re reactionary and I think that’s why Deschamps isn’t rated as highly. Yes he’s terrific at managing egos, he can learn from his past failures, and knows when a plan isn’t working but he has yet to prove to the world what French football is and stands for. The other great national team’s coaches embodied their nations ethos and spirit and he simply doesn’t and I think that’s a big reason why he’s not more universally seen as an all time manager.

  2. Obviously a great manager but should have gone after the World Cup.
    He's got nothing more to offer, has lost many players' confidence and makes very questionable choices.
    Not to mention the awful performances and apalling games since at least 2021
