The 2020 edition of the award was cancelled due to the global pandemic. The magazine that hosts and gives out the award, FRANCE FOOTBALL, said that it was because a few months of the year were not played, and because some leagues got their seasons cut short, giving some players an unfair advantage. Ligue 1, for example, was cut short that season.. which is significant given that the award is given from FRANCE FOOTBALL.
