  1. Both players know what they're doing. Rice deserves a yellow. Veltman has been streetwise and knows if he strikes the ball and hits rice with the ball there's a potential yellow to be given for obstructing play. Very unlikely to be sent off, had this happened, because Rice needs more time to move before it's a deliberate obstruction. But, Rice was stupid. He kicked the ball (I don't care how far) therefore he's now DELIBERATELY stopping the opposition from playing. Yellow card, sent off. It's really that simple.

  2. Sorry but how do you miss a ball being kicked 50 yards and your assistant is holding his flag out for a throw in how did the ball get that far away from the throw in and a brighton player was the last person to touch it because it was an arsenal throw so the ref wouldnt even of had to see him kicked away just put 2 and 2 together

  3. The second yellow card was in theory for time wasting but who wasted more time? Rice for tapping the ball 3ft , Veltman for kicking Declan Rice and putting him on the floor, the referee for turning a little thing into a big deal or the FA for taking discretion away from referees? If the referees follow the letter of the law the free kick should have been taken at least 3 yards back, the ball should not be rolling and the play 10 yrds from the ball, then the alleged offence by Rice could never happen The blatant violent conduct by Veltman has also somehow been missed as he shouldn't be kicking that hard into Declan Rice even if he had made contact with the ball. We all know he knew what he was doing. You could also say that the ball hit Rice and as he had his back to it he wouldn't know that it hadn't been kicked. It's done nothing for the reputation of the FA. Do the referees only see what they are being told to look for or should they consider the bigger picture? Rules shouldn't choke the game or allow players to kick each other. I think people forget it is a game sometimes.

  4. Simon this time talking bs. A wrong substitution by manager is not a fact. A referees rule book is fact. There for if the rule book cant be fact throughout a game. Its incompetence. That's a fact. Shame souness talks like a drunk n not quick enough to get his actual point across

  5. Referee's don't always book a player who pulls a shirt, holds someone back, not even attempting to play the ball! Why not?
This incident was a joke! The Brighton player was attempting to get Rice sent off, and succeeded. Mike Dean commented
that Weltman was being "clever", so that means an opponent should get a card? The ball was moving so not ready to be taken.

  6. how can you even assume that the referee "missed" this situation with pedro kicking the ball. The guy kicked the ball and not to the stands, but to his goalkeeper, so he delayed the game. The referee simply did not want to give a card to the player from Brighton, but gladly gave to the Arsenal player, because Arteta dared to criticize referees.

  7. Incompetence!!!
    How can you compare
    Making a substitute
    In a football match
With a referee who controls the game with a set of rules
The rules should apply to everyone
Not when you feel like it
The ref was looking directly at pedro
When he booted the ball 50 yards up the pitch he never missed it
    He blatantly see it
He chose to take no action
    That’s an incompetent choice
As he’s not following the set of rules
    That should apply to everyone.

And In terms of making a substitute in a football match
    The player may come on
And not follow the managers instructions
That’s something the manager has no control of unless he subs him off
Likewise if the player has a bad game
    And scores an own goal
Or misses an open goal to score
    That’s the player’s incompetence
The manager has no control over that
It’s an absolute pathetic argument from Simon
    Once again
    Trying to be clever
Bust just making himself look rather silly
    🤦‍♂️
    It’s rather Embarrassing
When you argue just for the sake of being objective
Or just to make an argument
Hopefully he can learn from this
    And grow as a person
    And stop making himself look
Like the jester on the show 🤦‍♂️

  8. Simon Jordan doesn't no whats he is talking about a Ref is paid to know the rules of the game and to be consistent which that Ref FAILED and should never ref a game until he is retrained to a higher level

  9. managers are allowed to be incompetent, thats fine, their employer (the club) can give them the sack. if referees are incompetent, there is no consequence, all we get is ex-referees coming out and supporting them. Souness is completely correct in what hes saying, the ref did not deliver consistency, which makes the game unfair, which was his one job
