Southgate is perfect for the FA as there's no pressure to deliver under them as long as he keeps his squad happy. We should have a group of player's that's good enough to challenge for trophies, but if the same happens in EUROs, they'll still probably end up rewarding him with another contract. If he was in charge of any other top footballing nation, he would've been shown the door by now as they don't continually accept failure.
If he thinks England are second favourites with Southgate then England would be out and out favourites if they had a proper coach.
We deserved to lose, Southgates disastrous management over the summer meant the team came into the World Cup undercooked.

Hahaha, England is so happy with mediocre, people keep saying Gareth "developed" this team, NO!, he just picked the current top club players, club players, people had to force him to play Foden at first remember, so let's not forget he has also heavily favoured some players( Sterling), who are still failing hard. He had the literal pick of the litter dropped into his lap from clubs, and just played HR manager, not coaching
