Will take the point because we deserved it for not finishing our clear cut chances. Very unhappy with the poor finishing because everything else was well-coached and well-executed today. Players also too susceptible to a swing in the game’s momentum and become panicked. World of a difference in their defensive composure when they’ve just scored vs when the other team just scored

Fine margins in the league mean City at home must absolutely be a win when we’ve played this well and created so many chances

  2. Think only the playeres (especially the offensive ones) are today to blame for not getting more than just one point.

We had a clear game plan, created a lot of chances for a big game like this. For both conceded goals we were in an organized structure and couldn’t clear the ball.

& if course it could have gone a different way if our 2:1 would have correctly counted.

  3. I’ll start since I was so eager to make the post –

“What a way to provide us with a rendition of “The Comedy of Errors” and that too on the opening day. And of course, it wasn’t possible to deliver a medieval classic without the performances of WSL officials.”

  4. I actually think they played well today. My only criticism is that our strikers when it comes to 1v1 challenges should score those opportunities bc it can and will cost us later in the season and also the uwcl if we get further. The Viv goal hurt i can’t even lie and our defence at times could of been a lot better but overall I’m happy with a draw.

  5. Let us blame Jonas, shall we?
Who of you thought we didn’t have a clear plan to bag the three points but the players fated a draw?

  6. The Russo pass to the goalkeeper on the one-on-one was painful. Looked like Kafaji had an open net further to the left too.

  7. I’d obviously prefer a win but we played really well. I’m hoping that we can translate it over to Hacken. Manu made some immense saves and Codina and LWM did pretty well. I was screaming at someone to mark Park basically the whole game but City’s attack is full of dangerous players so I do understand it.

We felt like the better team for a majority of the game which I’m happy about. We need to figure out how to eliminate our flop five minutes but I’m hoping for another early goal on Thursday. Hopefully Leah is healthy by then but LWM has also shaken more rust off.

I need Blackstenius and Russo to work on chipping the keeper or something because I can’t keep watching breakaways that we refuse to capitalize on. Compared to our first game last year against Liverpool, I’m actually feeling pretty happy right now.

We need a ruthless striker ASAP. Beth has more than earned the right to call herself a wide striker, she’s the only one who can finish.

  9. Good point all things considered, especially good they didnt get three. They will fall off with their lack of depth as the year goes on

Our strikers are the reason we lost 2 points today. Both Alessia and Stina had wonderful 1v1 chance with the goalkeeper but flopped it. Stina atleast made a good effort but Russo’s shot was just poor, no big team striker would hit like that.

We did create a lot of chances because there’s no low block but we’re not clinical in finishing yet. Jonas shouldn’t be blamed for this draw. Tactically, we did well today.

  11. Why are some fans so weird, why clap and cheer for miedema? Why blame manu for the two goals when it wasn’t her fault plus she made some great saves as well

  12. We should have won this. Stina and Alessia’s form needs to improve and fast. Need at least one to step up.

  13. We didn’t win because our forwards can’t score clear cut chances and not because of jonas’ tactics. He actually set us up really well.

Codi has improved so much over the last year and I’m glad she’s been given an opportunity to show it. That block on shaw was brilliant! Lotte is worrying me at the moment because I think she hasn’t played well since she’s come back and, with leah concussed, our backline is painfully slow which could be a problem against Hacken (unless some tactical changes are made).

I don’t know what to think about stina and lessi because on one hand I’m sure they are good players, but on the other how tf do you miss those chances or don’t make better decisions? Just how?

At least we opened this season better than the last one…

    /rant over

    Went to the match today.

The missed chances were painful, but overall the performance was okay.

Sadly, I can’t confirm whether or not I saw u/shelbyj.

  15. Just home from a great afternoon at the Emirates, it’s good to be back even if watching AWFC in person is even more stressful than on a screen!

Thought we did well, though there are obviously always things to work on, and I’m glad we’ve got that first Man City game out of the way because there was always going to be such a narrative around it and tbh, I was already tired of it! Also quite tired of the amount of #JonasOut comments on the Arsenal IG etc, if I were the admin I’d absolutely be muting some words at this point haha! Surely we all realise that this season is Jonas’ last chance to prove himself and if not a new manager will be recruited? 🤔

Attendance of just over 40k was super, it’s a shame the scheduling happened in a way that the men’s teams were playing the exact fixture away cause you’d assume the Emirates would’ve been a bit busier otherwise, but regardless it feels like a positive start! One weird thing today was that none of the screens were showing replays of goals etc which was a shame, hope that was just a one-off issue and will be fixed for the future 🤞🏼

  16. I’m glad we pulled off the tie and didn’t walk away with a loss.

Happy to see McCabe have a solid game and Manu made some good saves. Hoping we can build on this and start getting our confidence back because whatever mental block is going on with the players has been frustrating.

  17. fucking hell both results having dodgy decisions and both ending in 2-2 is not good for my heart. i need a lie down and a quality shitpost to wake up to
