Last season when United played every 3 days for half a season was not good enough excuse for all the injuries. Now man city players can't stop crying. They are right, I know, I just don't like double standards.
I don't see what the big deal is. Just negotiate into your contract the maximum amount games you will play in a season. Now obviously, this means the club won't want to pay you as much but if you're going to complain about the games played, then you should be willing to take a pay cut for that extra rest.
We are also tired of going to work everyday, you don't see us complaining or earning millions. I believe the amount of money they receive is starting to be justified😂 just starting
Sure it's nice to be earning hundreds of thousands every week, but when you don't allow the players to rest, you're forcing them to be workaholics, adding more and more games. More games will lead to more injuries, which will lead to a lower quality game. Exactly as Rodri said. Less rest means more tired players
Even city complains with the massive squad they’ve got, what are the others clubs going to do??
Unpopular opinion: i feel like more games means more squad rotation and id like to see that. Coaches and managers get to show their adaptability more and im all for it
@josephb9885, I really think these international games are designed to mess up club football. In just a few weeks, we'll see more international matches, which means more injuries, lower quality play, and even more pressure on the players. It's a vicious cycle that's just bad for everyone involved.
If the players somehow make it through to the World Cup, they'll be hit with an even crazier schedule, playing twice as many games. And after that? They get shipped off to tours in the US and the Middle East, all because there's big money involved. This lets billionaires buy more clubs, giving them the power to add more minutes to games just to squeeze in more ads.
Some fans might say the extra time is to stop time-wasting, but let's be real—it's about ruining the quality of football and turning it into something like American football, with all its stops and starts. This shift is driven by those who own the TV rights and the clubs.
Walt Disney now owns the TV rights for football, and along with their group of oligarchs, almost half of the Premier League teams are owned by non-English businesses. This foreign ownership is changing the face of club football, which used to be all about celebrating the local regions.
Even one of England's greatest football managers, Brian Clough, criticized the excessive amount of football being played over 35 years ago. Today, company employees like Townsend and Simon Jordan from Talksport argue otherwise, while real footballing people like Rodri, Klopp, and Pep are told to enjoy the millions they get for participating in the hijack of the beautiful game. "They kill us for the sport," as Eric Cantona said, who also believes that England plays terribly in international competitions because of the ridiculous number of games played.
The heart and soul of club football are being eroded as the sport becomes more commercialized and globalized. If this keeps up, we might see the European Cup and other big tournaments being heavily influenced by American business practices, losing the sport's unique identity and heritage.
As football gets more commercialized, we might even see clubs being renamed after corporations. Imagine Arsenal being called Walmart FC. This shows how much we could lose the cultural and regional significance that clubs have always represented.
In the end, the increasing commercialization and globalization of football are threatening to undermine the sport's integrity and heritage. The focus on making money and expanding internationally is leading to a drop in the quality of play and the erosion of the sport's traditional values.
And let's not forget the governing bodies. They're the ones selling this nightmare to football fans. They push for more games, more tournaments, and more commercialization, all under the guise of growing the sport. But in reality, they're just lining their pockets at the expense of the game's true essence.
These governing bodies are supposed to protect the sport, but instead, they're complicit in its downfall. They make deals with big corporations and broadcasters, prioritizing profits over the well-being of players and the quality of the game. It's a betrayal of what football is supposed to stand for.
The fans are the ones who suffer the most. They're fed a constant stream of subpar football, with players who are overworked and exhausted. The magic of the game is being lost, replaced by a commercial spectacle that lacks the passion and authenticity that made football great in the first place.
It's time for fans to take a stand. We need to demand better from the governing bodies and the clubs. We need to push back against the commercialization of the sport and fight to preserve its integrity. Football belongs to the fans, not the billionaires and corporations.
In conclusion, the increasing commercialization and globalization of football are threatening to undermine the sport's integrity and heritage. The focus on financial gain and international expansion is leading to a decline in the quality of play and the erosion of the sport's traditional values.
You brought this on yourself constantly asking for more money, the clubs have to find a way to pay your ridiculous wage and that is via more games.
Please do go on strike, I would love to see you try, so many people would be more than happy to be paid 100k a week to kick a ball, Your profession is on that is easily replaceable.
You get millions to do what you do …the average bin man do more hours than U & he's not talking about going on strike ….but I wish I would tho because loads of kids are lining up waiting to take your place
Clubs can register 18-24 players, while some players are saying too much football, there are players in the squads who has played 0 minutes.
While i agree, football is being diluted with all these additional competitions, this does seem like a management issue, managers want to play the "stars" every game while they should trust and use their squads
Players like Matheus Nunez at City, Kelvin Philips at city, Smith Rowe at Arsenal, these guys were not saying too much football, and had to leave coz they wanted to play. so it seems like a management issue rather than the fixtures being too much.
Am i totally off the mark here ?
GIVE THIS MAN A BALLON DOR FOR SURE
Professional football players in premier league get paid an absolute fortune….grim and bare it….ye are not doctors or firefighters saving lifes …footballers have it way to easy…doing what you love every week…with guaranteed money despite playing average to absolute 💩 most games
I don’t agree with Rodrigo beacuse players are well paid and so they have to perform in no matter what the circumstances may be. People in mines or factores are very less paid and yet they work in no matter what the situation is, so if a player who thinks that playing 2 or 3 matches per week is too much for them then they can leave the football.
AAAAAW Start by cutting their salaries in half. Rodri currently earns £220,000 gross per week.
correction, City Players wants to strike as they will be found guilty soon. now he is looking to talk trash.
Try doing a 50 hour week for a fraction of what you currently earn! Pathetic
In 1976-77, Liverpool played 62 games in League, League Cup, FA Cup and European Cup. In 22-23, City played … 62 games. The main difference now is that they're playing many more international games.
Oh dear, the Ego has landed!! This is exactly why clubs have squads. Some players can be rested for a couple of games, while others take the strain. Rodri would be the first to complain if he was dropped for a couple of weeks/games.
What a cry baby! A 40yrs old LBJ could play up to 100games in a season…. Premier league team players should stop complaining and toughen up!
where was the journalist questions about solutions– like do we reduce player wages and reduce games ?
the moaning only comes from players at the top clubs… dont join a club if you believe they will be competing on all fronts. thats simple
Players get paid millions they all need to shut up and play. They have benches so they don't even have to play every game. Also they play 60 game san have training where as us real humans have to grind work 365 days of the year for 50k a year if we're lucky…smfh
Teams should buy more players to accommodate the schedule. I don’t understand why complain if you train once a day and spend 24 hours doing nothing after training and play 2 hour match twice a week.
But why did he decide to take part in the UEFA commercial which is promoting the new CL Format which leads to more games? Oh maybe it‘s because of the money.
City have 3 teams come to the normal leval n youll be humbled pep
I’d be cool with dropping international breaks completely. Nobody watches that crap
Yeah I agree with Rodri
They should try the work 5 days 2 days off schedule and it’s not as fun as football
I think players that doesnt get a chance to play will have the opportunity ..BTW this players paid every week ..Most of the times they play once a week which means 200k for a game which is insane ..Club should copy chelsea salary method .Its not like these guys invent something week in week out they just kick a leather balloon.
My heart bleeds Just imagine having a job for 10 or 12 years and playing 1.5 hours twice a week and getting paid 200k , or trying working 12 hours 6 days a week to make ends meet the real world
The people at the top have no connection or passion for the game their only motive is power and money, they have no respect for the players and even less for the fans.
More matches = more cash for corrupt eufa higher ups
They should just retire if they feel its too much, these teams have huge squads and resources, coaches will have to rotate players
