England absolutely do not have a better squad than france or portugal

This tournament is NOT the same as others. We went out to a very good France team and we'd probably be playing in a final right now if Kane scores the Pen. However Southgate has proven now that he isn't good enough to win a tournament, what's the point of going to 2024 if we know we are going to go out?
I’m amazed that an England fan such as Rory, who’s witnessed the ACTUAL failings of the England national team in the 2000s and first half of the 2010s, can have such ridiculous expectations and not acknowledge the progress that has been made since 2016 where this nation was a genuine embarrassment to themselves on the world stage. We’ve actually become a genuinely competitive nation that can compete with the very best as we proved against France. I’m not having any of this ‘we haven’t won a trophy so we’ve failed’ bullshit. Look at the bigger picture. We aren’t Brazil or Germany. We shouldn’t be so entitled to expect to win every tournament. We’ve made clear and undeniable progress and that’s the most important thing, the future is bright. Open your eyes England fans! We should appreciate what we’ve done since 2018!

Southgate is a wet drip. I could have got England as far, considering the teams we faced along the way.

Actually think the people who support southgate are people who support english clubs that don’t regularly wins trophies (West Ham). People are forgetting that trophies is the measure of true success.

As a Portuguese person who’s seen a manager who’s won trophies for Portugal get sacked after the world cup I see no reason why Southgate should stay if I’m honest. Fernando Santos and Southgate have had 3 tournaments to win things for their respective countries, Santos has won Euro 2016 and a Nations League and still rightfully gets sacked after World Cup 2022. Southgate has won nothing after 3 tournaments and also a Nations League relegation and yet Santos a man who’s won trophies has gotten the sack and Southgate a man who’s won nothing is likely to not get the sack. Doesn’t really make a whole sense to me if I’m completely honest.

Southgate is a boring virtue signaller who has done as good a job with the most valuable team in the tournament as I could have simply by putting them in 4-4-2 and telling them 'go play football'
