  1. Aaron Mooy is a brilliant defensive midfielder – his passing range is brilliant. He reads the play brilliantly and is fit. he just played in world cup qualifiers and was Australia's best player in the final qualifier against Peru. He brings alot to the table – what if he is better than what you have? He will push MacGregor up the field and share the role with Ideguchi.

  2. Mooy has experience and sometimes we relied too much on Hart to keep the shape I’m sure Mooy can be like Hart and takes the pressure off .. Steady signing Hail Hail keep well from Dublin 🇮🇪☘️🍀💚

  3. Have no problem with the deal as long as Ange is continued to be backed with money for a centre back, defensive mid and a forward. Mooy is a smart bit of business in terms of he’s been there and done it with Ange and also he’s played at the top level in the prem and controlled games. Also Ange obviously sees something in him and we’ve got to get behind the guys he wants to bring in.

  4. As an Australian I can tell you from watching him he’s a better footballer than rogic. I’ve watched Australian football my entire life, followed Celtic from a young age. Trust is ange and trust this random person (me) telling you he’s a great player.

  5. Mooy is a decent player, about the standard of Cal Mac. My only concern is that he has been used to much higher wages in China (about twice our current highest paid player) and I hope that doesn't translate over. I hope he has agreed to take a wage cut, but we shall see. Again he isn't a player that will help us not get our asses handed to us in Europe, but he is a good fit for a club looking to win the league. We still need a CB and GK imo.

  6. I think the reason some fans might be "disappointed" is because he plays in an area of the field where we have a lot of players. If he was a defensive mid you could understand it, but he's not a defensive mid.

Is he going to take the place of Hatate, O'Reilly or Turnbull? Doubt it. Yes he adds depth, but there are other areas that need attention. CB is a big concern. If Starfelt or CCV aren't available, you're left with slim pickings.

  7. Mooy's wife is the daughter of an ex board member or chairman of St Mirren.
They live in Glasgow now and he is settled in the city and will want to do well to get a second year.
As a player, he's a great passer, good vision, good decision making, good set pieces, good stamina.
He is however as slow as any player in the Scottish premiership.
Ange obviously knows him from the national team and obviously expects he can get the best out of him and make him fit in the system at Celtic.

  8. Im am an Australian again some of the comments are stupid by the Scotish people you think you would of learnt from the manager last season. Mooy is a quality midfielder. He is only on a 1 year contract, there was no fees. Its a win for Celtic and Mooy as he need to be match fit for the Australian team at the World Cup. Mooy is a brilliant buy that cost nothing. Scotland stop complaining you make Scotland look foolish. Ps my Grand Fathers Scotish

  9. Geeze after the disaster b4 ange came in to the bitching I hear now. WTF could be worse than fucken mooy showing you how good he his. Good grief sez Charlie Brown.

  10. Not much different from McCarthy, great player, great vision and good work rate but way too slow for the Scottish premier league.

We have let about 10 players go that contributed to our success last season and have brought in three inclusive of a keeper.

Rangers were the better team at the end of last season and we have gone backwards.

We have not added depth we have about 7 – 8 players less on the books than we did this time last year.

  11. So many people demonstrating their ignorance of Mooy's qualities. Mooy can play both defensive mid, and attacking mid; can thread a pass through narrowest of spaces. Can tackle as well, if required. He'll surprise so many people! Will boss many of the bigger games in Scotland, and will, I believe, be utilised in CL games as defensive mid. A brilliant move to take him. Excellent player!

  12. Buzzing about Mooy, if he shows 3/5th of his best he will absolutely boss games domestically and surprise people in Europe. His biggest weakness is a lack of pace but his football IQ is miles ahead of anyone in Scotland and his ability to read the game is first class. Happy days

  13. I could understand people being upset if the Jota deal fell through and Mooy was the next player in but to me this is a bonus signing.
He's very industrious, gives 100% and he's a good addition imo. Btw he's one of those players that looks knackered after 5 mins…but isn't. Like Damien Duff used to.

  14. I think a signing like Aaron Mooy confirms my fear which is the Celtic board are only happy to be ahead of rangers and they don’t care about getting destroyed in Europe so long as we get the money. I want Celtic to do deals in the Edouard Michut and Jeremie Frimpong mould. I want young guys at these academies who are looking for first team football to look at Celtic and see an opportunity to play at a big club on the champions league stage which will help develop them and bring us big profits.

  15. Mooy is quality. His most recent performance was arguably his best against quality opposition to secure world cup berth. Ange will keep him fresh for European campaign because he's a class above Scottish football.

  16. 31 is not old. He’s got a couple of years at an elite fitness level. His technique is very good. Amazing pass and can hit a ping. Not bad for a free transfer

  17. Why is he nowhere near his best? His game has never been based on pace. He’s wily and skillfull. Will be a regular starter.

  18. Nonsense , From Souza and the Argentine to Mooy not much of a list , let's stop pandering , hes had a couple of good years at Brighton and Huddersfeild , well past it

  19. I was going to make that point about CalMac, he’s a very similar type of player. I wouldn’t say he should play as a lone 6, but when the team needs an 8, there’s no real backup. Many said some games CalMac should have been at 8 with a real 6. Maybe Ange will want to play that way more, but just didn’t have enough options that play the right away especially a ball playing 6. It’s great to have another than can play there and in some games CalMac and Moody both playing with one no.10, but he can also come on at 10 later in games to sure things up, too.

  20. Aaron Mooy is a 31 year old Broony style midfielder. Not McCarthy.
He will be a regular first team player I’m sure. A great signing.

  21. He should be okay against the likes of Motherwell Livingston Dundee Ross county st mirren etc in our wee pub league. If he was good he’d be at Nottingham Forrest Sunderland Barnsley Birmingham etc instead of cold winters nights in Perth Kilmarnock. He’s with us so I’ll get carried away too.

  22. Looking at possible negatives I can understand why people feel it's an underwhelming transfer, I don't feel angry, I was suprised as he was linked last summer and now do it when he's available for free. I trust in Ange and his eye for how he wants players to play, we need players in the midfield, it makes sense, I know nothing about his game but look forward to seeing for myself.
