Liverpool Must Agree To A £68m Fee In Order To Secure The Signing Of A Player Eager To Join The Reds.

Liverpool aimed to strengthen their wide positions this summer, with Anthony Gordon of Newcastle United heavily linked to a move to Anfield. Ultimately, Gordon remained with the Magpies.
Besides Gordon, Liverpool also showed interest in Eberechi Eze and were considering making an offer to attract him, as Eze was open to moving to Anfield. However, they did not pursue a concrete approach before the deadline and instead chose to sign Italian international Federico Chiesa late in the transfer window.
Eze has a £68m release clause in his current contract, which will be activated next summer. With three years remaining on his deal, Crystal Palace is in a strong position to hold firm on their valuation.
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has recently indicated that the club is prepared to sell their top players if they have aspirations to play at a higher level, such as the Champions League, which they currently do not. He mentioned:
“We want to be playing in the Champions League. The reality is we don’t right now. That’s what players want to achieve in their career and we respect that and we respect the fact that sometimes we’re going to be a pathway to that.”
Eze, aged 26, has demonstrated his value in the Premier League and secured a spot in the England squad. This season, he has scored 2 goals in 4 appearances for the Eagles, showcasing his versatility as he can play both on the left wing and in an attacking midfield role.
If Liverpool decides to pursue Eze next summer, it would be a significant investment. With Luis Diaz, Chiesa, and Cody Gakpo already available, Liverpool may not need another left-sided forward unless they sell one of their current options.
