Nothing against Reyna, I am a fan of his, and not advocating for Berhalter. I agree with Reynas decision to come forward and talk about it in the open. We will never know if he could have made a difference in this WC. On the flip side of the coin of performance, Reyna could have had a rough tourney. But, any young man who knows he can contribute, mightily, to a WC team would be disappointed if his coach told him his role will be limited before the tourney even started. Berhalter could have just as easily, and professionally said to Gio, (instead of telling him his role will be limited) if he wants to start and get minutes, “prove to me you deserve those minutes”. I think it was Berhalter who set this tone for controversy to play out. Lastly, Berhalter may have designed a complex system for US Mens Soccer, but he lacks a grand vision for US Mens Soccer.

I Can see this turning into a similar situation like Carlos Vela, where Reyna will refuse to play until a change in the coaching staff

Point is, the Reyna thing is only one of three major goofs.

Good número uno: Feriera over Ricardo Pepi. Two Latinos for the hundreds of thousands of Mexican American youth to look up to. Why Feriera? MLS. Why no Ricado Pepi? No MLS.

Goof número dos:
Walking Zimmerman starting.

Good número tres:
Not playing Reyna enough.

But our weakness was in strikers and defenders. Not midfielders.

@2:19 given the increased exposure and allure of Gio…his value has increased.

Carter-Vickers is better and plays a better game and should have been given more time.

The real reason is past beef between Berhalter and Claudio Reyna.

What does Dortmund. They only sell players they want not to because they are not owned by Qatar and need money to exist. What they do primarily is being a football club and play football with players they can afford. Please talk with more respect about Dortmund. They develop very young players and would love to let them stay.

Behalter just looked like the old school coach that wants to "discipline" players no matter how good they are. For tournaments we need a coach that's going to always play the best players
