I would definitely have included Spence for Forster. But I think the inclusion of Forster is a vote of no confidence in Whiteman as 3rd choice and maybe Austen as 2nd choice rather than a slap in the face to Spence

I'm sure spence will play play loads of games in the league and FA cup and the LC and be a very important player for us going forward spence will have to be patient it will be a test for him to see will he trow his toys out of the pram but I think he will cope well with it the nation leauge should be scraped in my opinion
Stupid stuff. I'd leave some senior player out for the group stage to rest them. Europa league group stage was perfect to see if Spence can actually hack it. Sigh.

Either it’s a failed transfer window and to make the UEFA Cup squad we had to have 4 keepers or Ange is punishing Spence. Either one is shite.
I'm absolutely 100% sure that Ange would have sat down with Djed and explained the situation and his decision to omit his name from the Europa League squad, and if indeed Djed has been welcomed back into Ange's thinking regarding EPL matches as seems pretty obvious, I hope he's taken the news on board and taken it like a true professional. I think this lad has a really good future with us but he's still young, growing and developing and he's at the right club and with the right manager.
In my opinion, it doesn't make sense to pick 4 keepers and left out Spence instead of picking 3 keepers plus Spence. Hopefully, Spence can continue to work hard and prove Ange wrong.

Great you point out the hypocrisy of fans not being satisfied even when they win cups, when the style is drab. Ange will do both.
Cups = papering over the cracks
I read that the squad that teams have to submit a roster of 25 players and Ange only submitted 23 players. Is that True ?
Is there a rule that they can add 2 other players: likely a rule for replacing anyone that's injured. But is there any rule or even loophole that can allow a team to add 2 players if they don't submit the full number (25) of players ?
I sort of agree with the overworking of players.
On the other hand, the training regime is so much more intense these days that it's possible to reduce that and use the games as part of training.
Coaches seem to have players in for double fitness sessions all season, when in reality, it should only be a few weeks or months after the off season before their fitness hits peak. They then just need to stay there.
To me the Europa is a good place for Spence to have gotten minutes and opportunity to prove himself – i think its a missed opportunity for him. Agree about the idea to leave Forster out rather

In htese sorts of situations it is most kind to assume the best of what we don't know. Not knowing why Ange made this decision, I assume he did it for good reasons. Not knowing how Djed will respond to this decision, I choose to assume that he will respond professionally and use it as motivation to make the most of the minutes he gets outside of Europe. As this is sport, intended for enjoyment, I'd really encourage fans to assume the best of what they don't know, including other fan's comments and arguments. I personally choose to assume we are going to win everything this year ;P COYS!
I he should have taken Jed his young and learning the game. How is he supposed to develop when he is constantly being ignored! If he was picked for Europa football his confidence would be sky high and we all know footballers thrive on this!
Spence is better than Davis
I think DJed Spence is very unlucky to have been excluded at the expense of Davies .
Davies, as good a club servant as he is ,is no longer good enough to play in the First Team. I think we should sell him in Jan, but would welcome him back in another capacity once he’s retired.
I’m hoping that Spence has ‘the cahona’s’ to make Ange regret this decision and I’m left wondering if Ange is still unsure about him , or, wants to see his reaction to this setback

We knew Austin and Whiteman were makeweight for the rules in the Europa ,the head scratcher is the inclusion of Faser ,and leaving an outfield place short . Not sure if it speaks more about goalkeeping worries, than that of Djed Spence ?

Taking only 6 specialist defenders but 4 ‘keepers seems insane on the surface of it, suggesting the two lesser-known keepers are just not good enough and we can’t do without Forster?

It would be the unluckiest of unluckies to come to the point where we need to employ a fourth choice goalkeeper. If it was indeed an option, I would certainly have taken Spence. He looks like he has worked hard in pre season. This certainly will be a test of the maturity he appears to have found, but as mentioned, he is a professional, and needs to respond as such.
To protect player burn-out through to many games is to introduce a salary cap.
You cant have the profit and sustainability rules as they stand with the current player salaries as they lead to a limit of squad depth; which in turn leads to player burn-out with the number of games involved.
A salary cap would also help the smaller clubs being able to keep some of their better players as the richer clubs wouldn't be able to fit fit all the big salaries in. A side benefit could also see an evening out of the various competitions in terms of team quality. COYS.
Barnaby, correction on the K fans "booing" the team…they were not. Rather, they were booing the head coach Hong and the KFA. The KFA is one of the most corrupt and dysfunctional organizations. Their selection of a new manager was in shambles and both the KFA Chairman, who btw is the Chairman of Hyundai Motors, and Hong are being subpoenaed into hearing by their Nat Assembly for dereliction of duty.
Jesse Marsch wanted the job and KFA played the "good ol boy" favoritism to select a failed KNT manager. it's a shame. The only good that Hong did as a manager was to win Bronze at the UK Olympics in 2012.
Porto are EL favourites for me. Would love to see us win it but can't.

Spence update? Spurs are extremely interested in Patrick Dorgu from Lecce. They have been since the summer, but he was considered too expensive. Rumours now have it that they will move in January with Spence possibly as part of the deal. It is a surprising one with Spence being used as a pawn to sweeten the deal because Chelsea are also interested. It still doesn't entirely explain why Spence was left out of the Europa League squad, por does it? If he had been, and he goes in January, then we'll be a man down for that competition. Lecce finished 13th last season and have no European football, so go figure. Pure conjecture on my part, but let's see if I'm right.
This is I direct result of signing solanke. What a waste. Couldve easily given lankshear a go as it stands and spent the money on more U21s or a deal where we can offload somebody on loan at least.
Really hope Djed is resilient enough to say – hey maybe I'll get more league minutes, maybe I'll start in the cup and put his head down and go for it.

All the critics of us saying "Newcastle in Australia is overloading the players" made me laugh after we played minimal games last season…..now they have dumped more games on teams which hurt the players more…..the irony is not lost on me here😂😢

Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t in my top 5 of all time. Hot take but it’s subjective . I feel Messi, Pele, Maradona, cruyff are all definitely above him so maybe 5th. I must admit the fact that I really dislike the man intensely as I believe humility is the most attractive quality not only for players but all people. I find it important for the kids that look up to these big players. Look at what he did at Man Utd he puts himself above the team. His stats are incredible but that’s not everything for me.
I’d put zidane and beckenbaur ahead of him as well. Haaland will beat a lot of his records soon anyway.
