The Senegalese international was expected to start in the Toffees’ Premier League clash with the Terriers but he was omitted from squad and now looks set to leave the club before the window slams shut on Thursday night.

Gueye has been asking to leave Everton for PSG since December when the French champions began to show interest in him.

Everton rebuffed PSG’s £21.5million bid for the Senegal international on Monday and told the French champions their key midfielder is not for sale.

Gueye is keen to secure the move to Paris but Everton want at least £35m plus add ons before they consider selling the defensive midfielder. The Merseyside club value him at close to £40m.

To deal could still go ahead despite PSG completing the £35million signing of Argentinian midfielder Leandro Paredes on Tuesday.

Toffees boss Marco Silva made five changes for Tuesday’s game, with Leighton Baines back as captain and Cenk Tosun, Kurt Zouma, Tom Davies and Bernard also returning to the starting line-up.
