Marcus Rashford, the “talented” forward for Manchester United, has been working closely with former United legend Ruud Van Nistelrooy to regain his best form after a challenging season. During the 2022/23 season, Rashford played in an impressive 56 games, contributing to 40 goals (scoring 30 and assisting 10). However, last season didn’t go as planned, with Rashford managing only 14 goal contributions (8 goals and 6 assists). This season, he has yet to score in three appearances, but he’s putting in extra effort to bounce back. Van Nistelrooy, who scored 150 goals during his time at Old Trafford, has been staying behind after regular training sessions to work with Rashford on various aspects of his attacking game, including his awareness of the back post and his movement across the box.
In July 2023, Manchester United reached an agreement in principle with Rashford for a new five-year contract. This deal, which runs until 2028, is reportedly worth £325,000 per week. Despite receiving more lucrative offers from other clubs, Rashford chose to stay with the Red Devils, reaffirming his commitment to the team.
However, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing for Rashford. In Manchester United’s recent loss to Brighton, he struggled to make an impact, taking just one shot and failing to create chances. Alan Shearer even criticized his lack of tactical awareness during that match.
