its easy to forget that after the 5-1 win last season we lost the next three games including a very poor performance at Brighton. this season will be better.
We are where we are Craig. It seems flat. No excitement. Defo with Amanda and Mehrdad leaving as they were a voice. The bit between the fans and the club.

Trips won’t be happy about the captaincy and can’t blame him for wanting to leave. Nobody knows the truth. But cash in for me as we need money £10-15mill. He had an indifferent season last year and cost us in games.

Almiron and Murphy not good enough and a shame we haven’t got someone in. No recognised striker to cover Isak also. Wilson will be injured half the season. Pressure on the Osula to make a difference.
If from now it means 1 decent signing per year then so be it.we need to make sure the books balance.

A lot is on Howe and formation he plays as overrun in midfield. He doesn’t change quick enough to stop this so will see what Sunday brings

Could we not have Mario Hermosa CB on a free from Madrid? Chiesa is around £25 mill? I would want someone in rotation with Longstaff as others are better off the left
I know he's not been here long to make long-term opinions, but Mitchell has been as bad as Charnley with transfers so far.
Eddie's comment makes it sound like he has very little sway in transfer activity, but I think Mitchell should absolutely be answerable to Eddie and should have to report into him and update him as, ultimately, Eddie's job is on the line if we suffer due to no signings.
What I DO believe should be within Mitchell's power is to advise that Gaehi is too expensive and that he can't negotiate a reduction so we need to move onto other targets.
I'd hate to blow all our money on Gaehi, and then find next PSR deadline we have to sell MORE valuable players that we don't want to sell. Imagine having to sell Isak, Joelinton or Bruno because we had our pockets emptied buying Gaehi. I'd be sick as a chip.
Vibe was flat apart from first few mins. Third window not improved the first 11, no movement on new training ground, are PIF taking a different investment view for us.
I thought we were told we were going to have a transformative window by Eales. It has been the exact opposite…
Eddie made his requirements perfectly clear before the start of the window, and now with a week to go and two matches into the season Eales and Mitchell are still scrambling around trying to get someone over the line. This is more like the bad old days than the glory days with Amanda.
13:01 completely agree with this. The club has also stated this was their strategy, that they have to buy potential and develop it. Guéhi to my mind has already been developed by Palace and I do feel failing to invest in a decent RW will cost the clubs unless of course Madueke or similar are available on loan.
Eddie Howe has already said what trippier means to the team so what’s all the fuss about he should stay without doubt one of our best signing in his position only wish he was seven year younger keep him please

I’d get trippier back RB and try Tino Rw he’s got the skill and speed to do a job for us there
Eddie Howe said Trippier is fine, so either he is shielding the truth, or you are spreading speculation that disrupts the club. Don't waste the good work and good will that you have built up.
Can you do an honest assessment of Paul Mitchell's work since joining the club? I think he has been absolutely turgid.

Seems that our right side is in turmoil. Tripps or Livramento, no new right sided CB and Schar not available, will Tonali work this time and a weak RW attacker. The backroom also doesnt seem to be working. The Guehi transfer isnt being handled well – hopefully we have an alternative sorted to snap up if it falls through – and we are significantly overpaying. While the structure is right, the timing of the changes has been poor – shouldve been well before the window or wait until after. Eddie clearly isnt happy.
Taking everything into account on and off the field, I think Tripps is probably our best signing ever. He has still has a lot to give and I hope he stays.

It only takes one negative voice to bring down an entire team, especially a voice as influencing as Trips.
As much as i like Trips if his heart is not 100% with the project its time for him to leave. He will become a cancer to the team, affecting those immediately around him before they in turn affect those around them. This happens dramatically fast, even with highly skilled professional workers in relatively low pressure working environments.
The EPL is the most elite and one of the most high pressure environments on the planet and it takes almost perfection to find any sort of success.
Anything less than perfection is punished and we are not strong enough to ride the storm with dissenting voices amongst the squad.
What is actually going on Craig? Eddie seemed very frustrated with what is going on. He can't be happy losing the two lads that were sold and then what on earth was that goalkeeper bought for other than to fiddle PSR for Forest in t return for them buying Anderson? It actually should be looked into if he leaves. What was the price they paid I've seen anything from 5-6m to 20m was reported in the Athletic. Feels like a really poor window if no one else comes in and whilst we have kept the bigger players is that the measure of success now, feels more like Ashley era. Hopefully Guehi comes in and that improves us or I do actually think there may be trouble ahead with Eddie not being too happy with what has gone on, he can't be expected to improve the team and the league position when the squad is essentially worse.
His off field issues seem to have caused a divide in the squad, great when you have families that all get along but when things go wrong the knock on effects can be far reaching
There is something definitely off. Mehd / Amanda are a real loss to the positive vibe around the club and im really doubting whether Mitchell / Eales are good enough. Genuinely shocked at how bad this window is going

There is another Newcastle vlog that was practically cheering for him to leave. They just quoted his latter performances and did not consider the overall performance since he arrived at Newcastle. He will be a big miss if he goes.😮

I think we have enough money to pay for gueh and a top drawer rw, we can roughly spend the same amount we did in the first window I would of thought, and really, fans should hold judgement on the transfer window and all those involved until it's actually finished
Vlac will go out on loan, to gain fitness and confidence and first team football, he is highly rated and still young, and then come back next sumer when dubs contract is up to challenge pope for no1, Its a clever move

It's like a lovely relationship – If the love has gone, so has the trust. Remember those dodgy passes that cost us UCL and cup games – He will become just as much a liability and likely start swearing at the fans again.
It's only a game – let him go – the squad manages many tough times without key players so let them pick up the slack as KT heads into retirement and obscurity – KT has often had a short term view IMO
The Guehi saga is one of the most boring transfer stories in PL history. Decent player but not worth this nonsense.
I'd like to see us try to sign Rayan Cherki. He's going for a nominal fee this window.(£12-17M) A cheap option for the RW or LW or through the middle. A very two footed player who could improve ur attack and add that unpredictabilty that Maxi gave us. Great for bringing on late in a match to sit defenders down and create openings.

I would be delighted if Trippier stays. Yes he was a bit off at the close of last season but if he can work back up to his best, he's worth far in excess of the money we would get for him. I believe he wants to coach when he ends his playing career, surely Eddie et al could give him some role in that respect at the club to take the sting out of losing the armband.
No way we should sell Trips and a loan should only be considered if it comes with an obligation to buy (for a good sum of money). Really disappointing window if we overpay for Guehi and don't get a "purple" (or close to) right winger.

I have been shouting at my TV screen since Trippier turned up. He brought a huge reputation. But he failed to make a difference. Analyse any game play. Silly pointless short passes without ever moving down the pitch. His passes are below average. His corner's hardly ever result in a goal. His free kicks are erratic. He hardly ever runs with the ball. He certainly has fallen off. He gets robbed if he's caught in possession you can guarantee it. Forget his name – simply look at his effort and skill level. It is below par. He is taking up a position in the team where we know he will not improve. This drags the team down. Say thankyou and goodbye. He is now a weak player.
I think a lot of fans are underwhelmed by our activity in this transfer window (compounded by the PSR deadline fiasco).
That’s why I think the crowd was a bit ‘flat’ on opening day.
