To be honest, if Tripps was on the pitch against Southampton I believe he would’ve stopped the Schar situation from happening. He’s a seasoned Captain and a valuable figure within the team… If he does leave then all we can do is thank him for his service because he’s been integral to the turnaround.
I'm not saying Trippier won't be sold in this window or even in January, but I do find it amazing how just one reporter says he "understands" Trippier is looking for a move
and then literally every media outlet going just says almost just as a matter of fact states "Trippier wants to leave", as if Kieran has gone on record publicly or something rather than it just being regurgitated from a journalist with no verifiable source.

People seem to point to last season as some kind of failure for him because he had maybe 2 games or so where he had errors leading to goals and was a bit shaky for a run of about 4 or 5 games coming back from injury but if you actually look at the bigger picture he had more assists than he did the season Newcastle qualified for the Champions League and in fewer games.
For me I do see the value in keeping Trippier at the club, he's quite obviously got a big presence in dressing room and has played a big part in fostering the family-like feel of the squad and we've seen he plays a big part in welcoming new signings into the club and making them feel settled, plus he's got experience of high pressure games with England, in the Champions League and playing for a team like Atletico Madrid, so while he might not necessarily always be first choice this season I think he adds a lot to the club in other ways, that are probably going to be harder to replace.
Also being the first person to sign from the takeover I think he's probably the best placed person to see how the club and squad are developing, sort of someone to withhold standards and the other factor is obviously Livramento and Ashby were expected to learn and improve their game from Trippier and I would say a year really isn't that long to have shadowed him or gained a massive amount of insight.

Trippier wasn’t captain, he was vice captain. Jamal Lascelles was captain.
Bruno has replaced Lascelles as captain and trippier still remains vice captain.
