AC Milan continues to bring in new players ahead of the 2024/2025 season. Most recently, Milan officially recruited Emerson Royal from Tottenham Hotspur.
Emerson joined Milan after being bought for a transfer fee of 13 million pounds sterling (Rp. 264.6 billion). The Brazilian right-back agreed to a four-year contract, namely until 2028.
“The Brazilian defender is now a new AC Milan player,” reads the statement on the club’s official website.
“AC Milan is delighted to announce the permanent signing of the player Emerson Aparecido Leite de Souza Junior, better known as Emerson Royal from FC Tottenham Hotspur.”
“The Brazilian defender has signed a contract with the Rossoneri until June 30, 2028, with an option to extend for a further year.”
The Rossoneri have been persistent in their pursuit of Emerson Royal throughout the summer transfer window, but have struggled to agree a fee with Tottenham before the deadlock was broken last week.
Milan then quickly held a medical test for the 25-year-old footballer. In Milan, Emerson Royal will wear the number 22 jersey and is predicted to immediately debut in the opening match of Serie A against Torino, Sunday (18/8) early morning WIB.
“Let’s make history together,” said Emerson on social media Instagram after his move to AC Milan was announced.
Emerson Royal is the third player to land at San Siro this summer. Previously, Milan had first recruited Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid, and Strahinja Pavlovic from RB Salzburg.
