Netherlands XI: Noppert, Timber, van Dijk, Aké, Dumfries, Koopmeiners, de Jong, Blind, Klaassen, Gakpo, Bergwijn.
Ecuador XI: Galíndez, Preciado, Hincapié, Porozo, Torres, Estupiñán, Caicedo, Méndez, Plata, Valencia, Estrada.

GOAL!

Gakpo gets the scoring under way with a shot from range. He looks some player and that left-footed shot had some power behind.

Questions over Galíndez’s positioning maybe.

6 mins: Netherlands 1-0 Ecuador

Estupiñán goal ruled out for offside

He’s not actually offside himself, but Porozo is blocking Noppert’s line of sight as he gets a flick. Probably the correct decision.

48 mins: Netherlands 1-0 Ecuador

  1. The goalie can see just fine even with #25 in front of him. He even dive in the right direction. The ball was deflected off #7 and went the opposite of his dive. If not deflected he would have gotten the ball.

  2. With this brilliant rule, Goalies just need to hide behind any offside player and be careless what going on. When striker see goalie doing this, he will just back out. Problem solved, smart defending.

  3. offside
🔸 Pencetak gol offside ketika bola diumpankan kedepannya. Gol tdk disahkan dn tim lawan mendapatkan tendangan bebas.

    Tidak Offside
🔸 Pencetak gol dri Ecuador berada didepan penjaga gawang, tetapi ada dua pemain bertahan di antara pencetak gol tersebut dan gawang. Dia tdk offside.

  4. The fact that the goalkeeper reacted to the ball that was shot before the ball even touched the Ecuadorian player means the goalkeeper saw the ball and the kick, that ball would have been impossible to defend against after the ball changed direction, this in my opinion was a very bad call and considering how violent was the Netherland team they would have deserved a loss.

  5. I remember a Sunday game that I played a few years ago as a goalie when our team conceded a free kick. An attacking player was standing on top of me like you normally do for a corner but I knew that he was behind our last defender. I made a big deal shouting to the referee about not being able to see around this guy cause I knew this rule and the moment the free kick was taken, we got a free for an offside.

I see the argument that people are saying about the GK already diving but how could he adjust at all with that player blocking his view for most of the balls flight? Players shouldnt be allowed to take advantage of being in such a position, thus I agree with the offside call.

  6. Seriously, the fact that they have to get so technical shows that they should be scared. Ecuador clearly dominated the game, and the attacker was trying to go back to his position.

  7. And now Ecuador are eliminated, while violent Netherlands that deserved to lose and played with mediocrity gets to pass!! Way to go FIFA!! Ecuador fought hard to get into this world cup. Shame
