I have a feeling Seidl did not choose to leave Mclaren. Andrea has been in F1 for a long time and worked with Michael Schumacher, Kimi, and Alonso. His cars have always been oversteering monsters that need a driver who likes that type of car. Lando is one of those drivers, who prefers a loose car. I think this is a strategic move by Mclaren.
Will it be a good decision or will it be sui-Seidl?
It seems for the first time McLaren is the one caught sleeping when it comes to contracting personnel : )
Actually doesnt suprise me after i read it, Seidl already had close ties with VW by being with porsche a few years back, now its the other VW group brand that he is joining

I feel if binotto went to Sauber to be Team principal while Seidl remains CEO, that would be an extreme show of force by Audi, which would definitely be seen across the paddock. Or binotto could go to Williams, and hopefully bring them up the order. I still wonder where Porsche and Andretti fit in with all of this…
Surprised McLaren didn't sign 3 team principals from 3 different teams all of whom were locked in to existing contracts

It was Mike Krack who had previously worked with Seb when Seb drove briefly for BMW Sauber, not Andreas Seidl. Krack was associated with Red Bull Sauber/BMW Sauber from 2001 to 2009. Seidl has led BMW Motorsports and was involved with the Porsche LeMans program as well, with Mike Krack. This is Seidl's first rodeo with Sauber and McLaren was his first role in any capacity in Formula 1. I'm amazed that nobody in the chat corrected Tommo.
McLaren don't even have to change the letters on the principal's headphones which might be huge for cost saving.
not a surprise to me. seidl get the chance to run a WORKS f1 team, formally worked for Porsche, CEO title. the timing was a shock but this was a prime opportunity for most parties involved
Tommo, you glossed over the part of the Sauber article that said ‘Siedl and the Sauber group will appoint a Team Principal soon’ he will be CEO and not TP. Maybe for a short while until they find someone but it’s not the plan
Just hire American's as team principles, Euros don't know how to do business or how to lead. I can't blame them though, they grew up in a dying country that was more irrelevant by the day.

I was surprised at first until I remembered about audi its a bit weird with him leaving now with us still quite far from audi entering the sport but I guess that if he didn't take that he would've of risked whoever there replacement was taking that spot instead of him
