Harry Kane is probably, legitimately 10x the footballer of Ollie Watkins. No one disputes that. And yet if Watkins played Kane's minutes in this Euro Tourney, England scores AT LEAST 5 more goals. I wholeheartedly believe that. Kane's lack of movement/mobility, and his lack of willingness to just be a #9 goal scorer was the main reason the English attack were so inept. Kane thinks hes a freaking midfielder, and the butterfly effect is how much it diminishes Jude & Fodens ability to be at their creative best. This team needs a TRUE #9, even if he isnt half as talented as Kane. The FIT is what matters.

If Southgate had drop9ed England's best ever goal scorer ie kane and lost these muppets would be saying kane should have played guaranteed. All the players who didn't play in there opinion should have played. But at the end of the day no one played to there potential. Its down to the manger and all the players.
All ever anyone talks about is individuals. That's always our downfall. What about passages of play with and without the ball and an actual plan? Spain had a plan. Southgate did play with a plan in 2020 but in this tournament we seemingly didn't have one.
Kane didn't gel with the players behind him. He was the wrong choice.
I think Kane should step down as captain after a poor display and lack of leadership over the whole competition , also due to his record he isnt a proven winner (amazing striker) BUT hasnt ever won anything important in his career. Maybe it is time to hand over to younger generation and use Kane as a squad player instead of a first team selection. Whats your thoughts ?????

I agree that if Harry Kane was not fully fit he should have owned up and sacrificed himself for the sake of the team. However, there was a tactical and maybe team selection problem. England never dominated any game they played; they scrapped and scraped their way to the final.
Unpopular opinion: even if he were fit, he would still fail because he doesn’t have the quality and mentality.
