On today’s episode of TCOAG, we put Everton and Belgium midfielder Amadou Onana under the microscope. He’s been linked with a move to Arsenal for quite some time with reports last week claiming the Gunners had gone as far as approaching his club in order to ascertain whether he is for sale and what it would take to bring him to north London. Is he the right fit for Mikel Arteta’s side?

  1. The biggest qualification any Arsenal player must have is passing ability. And that was always my concern for him. If we were seriously looking to spend 40m plus for a midfielder I love Archie Gray. 😂❤

It's just after missing out on Bellingham I don't want to miss this kid he's genuinely special.

  2. If you ask me I will want Arsenal to go big on Bruno G.
I have a feeling that Arsenal may go back to their old ways of buying cheap. I just hope Arsenal will not go step(s) back and allow other clubs to catch up with them.

  3. Jude Bellingham was cheaper than Declan Rice. Jude is being pushed up for world footballer of the year. Declan may not even win the epl player of the year. Onana might be cheap but the expectation should not be lowered for him. If you want to play for arsenal (old or young) you need to be very good.

  4. Onana's shocking performance for Belgium leads me to think he's not the guy. As I stated before in another chat Fofana is twice as good and twice as cheape than Onana.

  5. Onana's performance for Belgium outlines that he isn't the 'game changer', we need player that will lift the team from the jump. In that position, we need a player to boss it straight away.

  6. These are brilliant Harry, so well researched and presented. I was on the fence with him but properly watching him yesterday and seeing the poor possession stats that really worries me as it's such a crucial role for our team. A no for me, think there's better out there for the price Everton are asking

  7. Right now, his biggest strengths seem to be his running power and his tackling, so in terms of his immediate use to us I see him as cover for the defensive side of Rice's game and/or a closer to bring off the bench. Don't get me wrong, I do see some value to that… but we are basically talking about an upgrade on the job that Elneny does for us here, and not a Partey replacement or a solution at left-8, so there's only so high I'd be willing to go to get him. Could we coach more into him over time? Maybe. As Harry says he has some freakish physical attributes that you just can't coach, and that adds a level of interest, but he'd have to be either a bonus signing (e.g. if we've got everything else done and there's some money left over) or a backup plan (we can't get any of our main midfield targets for one reason or another and we're looking desperately short going into the season).

  8. I wouldn’t keep Partey he looked half the player he was towards the end of the season, opposition ran past him as if he wasn’t there! I was a massive fan but having missed over 50 games he appalling 😞

  9. I think arsenal dont know who they want ..last summer we have done our scouting during the season..but now we r dilly dalling during the window..hence why sesko rejected us..we didnt do our homework before hand…this will be arteta last season..harry u r feeling we wont be in title race..be real👉

  10. The fact that Ahmadou Onana cannot
Cover and protect possession of the ball as a 6 shirted mid fielder; giving away balls in the midfield or Infront of your defence is the most dangerous player like we had from Zinchenko in the wing back role.. It will cost us more than if we kept Partey. The coach cannot straighten that weakness of Onana.

  11. Thank you Harry for great content as always ❤
In my humble but accurate opinion I do not think Onana is currently at the level we need to compete with Man City for the title. Partey is arguably the best in the world in his position when fully fit & for us to take city all the way again & hopefully win the PL we need the best so although Onana may well have bags of potential to be a great player we haven’t got the time to mould him into what we need right now.
