Liverpool Star’s Dad Says Jürgen Klopp Improved Him ‘50% Better’ – But Arne Slot Suits Him Better.
Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch’s father lauds Jürgen Klopp’s influence on his son. Gravenberch joined Anfield amid a midfield reshuffle last summer, with established figures like Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain making way for new signings. Despite challenges adapting to the Premier League, Gravenberch, who departed Bayern Munich, has shown improvement under Klopp’s guidance, according to his father.
“He was brought in by Bayern with an eye to the future and they saw his qualities,” he told ESPN. “Bayern still had a lot of confidence in him and that is why they sold their skin very expensively. Fortunately, everything turned out well on the last day.”
He then continued to discuss the impact Klopp had on him since arriving at Merseyside, stating: “Jürgen Klopp showed more empathy and personal interest than Nagelsmann and Tuchel combined. That immediately gave Ryan a very positive feeling in their initial conversations. Despite Klopp’s demanding schedule and responsibilities, he continued to invest significant time and personal interest in Ryan.”
“Klopp has been very supportive of Ryan. He was helpful and kind, but at the same time, he could be demanding, occasionally benching Ryan in crucial matches. He is indeed among the best in the world.”
“I believe he’s at least 50% better now than he was before. He’s become stronger and fitter. Liverpool’s pace of play is truly extraordinary. Everything moves much quicker, and this has greatly benefited him. Ryan always has to give his all at Liverpool, which has made him a vastly improved player.”
However, he added that he believes the new manager, Slot, will suit his son even better than his predecessor: “I don’t think he has spoken to Slot yet, but Ryan is happy that he is coming. Although he enjoyed playing under Klopp, Slot’s style of play aligns better with Ryan. Slot’s approach is more akin to that of Manchester City and Arsenal. Under Klopp, Liverpool played with a more direct style. Slot’s style suits Ryan better, considering his training at Ajax.”
The new Liverpool boss, Arne Slot, is also renowned for his fast-paced and high-pressing football, which could see Gravenberch feature more prominently in the starting line-up next season.
