The last few days of interviews with USMNT players and BJ Callahan seem to indicate that the goal of Copa America is to “take steps forward” but not to win the event. Nor has the words “Joe Scally” come from the lips of any player or coach–just “other options and adjustments.” What does this mean for the coming friendlies?

Gregg's timid as F. His M.O. is to always minimize expectations. He had the press eating from his hand parroting that its impossible to win on the road in CONCACAF. That getting out of group in WC was the goal. Only he would pitch one of the biggest tournaments in world football, the freaking Copa America as if it were a friendly tune up for the World Cup with no palpable expectation other than "get better.". It's a loser's mentality. You learn to deal with pressure through experience playing with high expectations- under pressure to perform. Don't shrink… lean into the challenge!

Matt Turner stories and hype sum up why USMNT might be trash at Copa, we won't let nature take it's course and see if Hovarth or others can take Turner's spot.(Same reason Maloney is banned) We are still running a boy band, yes we have tons of good singers, but it's still a boy band. Hovarth and Steffen are not allowed to compete at keeper to make sure the Turner WWE storyline can ran it's course. Last Gold Cup Turner is billed on TV as the greatest PK stopper in the history of the game. TV told me Panama were fools to play to PKS, did they not hear about the greatest PK stopper ever! How could Panama not fear Turner? Why did they even attempt the shootout, they should have just given up.
Honestly the hated settled down in terms of demographics once Turner took over. I think Turner as #1 just cuz it pacifies hipster fanboys to the rest of the defense looking like Trusty, CCV, Richards, and Jedi. Turner checks the box for so many WWE storylines and keeps hipster fanboys in check. Dude reality doesn't exist with Turner and the fanbase.
Turner storyline was Turner was destined to start at a club like Forrest. Everyone knew based off his MLS play he would have success in EPL, lol Steffen and others had to be banned cuz was so good Turner nobody could mess with his starter mojo. Turner is legit wiped as EPL starter, lol but the storylines won't stop. Turner talking about maturity, a 29 year with 17 career European league starts who forgets he doesn't have a baseball glove on. Copa will be a wake up call USA hits the snooze button on.
USA is in the group of trash with Panama and Bolivia who are ranked 15 and 14th. Only Costa Rica is ranked lower.
Once USA picked the 14th worst team, they were guaranteed the 15th worse team.
Uruguay has studs? USA was awful World Cup. England was awful, and played a 5'8 slow RB and Luke Shaw at LB. USA owned the wings with speed vs England, that won't be the case vs Uruguay. Wales didn't dominate till they put a 6'5 thug in the game. Yes Wales dominated 2nd half?

Goalkeeper is kinda scary. Hovarth is kinda the final hope and he turns 29 soon. Turner might be washed by World Cup with Hovarth the only EFL level guy. Steffen will be 31 at WC and MLS rusty.
Like Hovarth is the only keeper not on pace to be washed by 2026, and we have zero EFL level guys behind him. I can see the Turner legend lasting since they don't want to replace him with Hovarth and end the WWE storyline. lol I legit think Hovarth is a better PK stopper based on watching USA. But things get scary with no Hovarth. Turner is turning 30, you don't know how bad he will get. He is pretty bad under pressure.
