Hey coach Jesse, result matters in this friendly encounter. You should not play a game to expose your team so your opponent countries team coaches will see your tactics and formation. My advice to you coach is to let the players play simple donβt make too many mistakes , be patience, defend as a units , defend and take half chances , play slowly to the European quick counter attack , fast flow pace soccer and let your strikers shot on target, play as a team not as individualistic play.
Remember coach Jesse that club football is different from national soccer team so you should play a tactics that will make your opponent countries team as well as the Copa American approaches confuse so they canβt see you game plan in the upcoming Copa America tournament. The players should not be selfish in their opponent goal area, play simple, donβt make silly ,unnecessary fouls and mistakes play simple, the strikers should be at the right place at the right time in the opponent area, they should defend very well in corner kicks, free kicks and quick counter attack style of European football. All the best but remember that if you are not doing well as a coach I will criticizes your styles of play and formation.
I see Marsh just as inspirational as Herdman but with more football know how. One playing style is as good as another, provided the players buy in and are capable enough to implement it. In my experience as a coach, some players are not coachable, and are incapable of adjusting their style of play. Others may be capable of adjusting, but are not interested in doing so. Over time both those types of players get eased out, and are replaced by others who are capable and willing. We now seem to have the depth in our player pool to have the luxury of making the necessary roster adjustments. π
I don't see Marsch as the kind of coach who would foolishly incite the opponent to play better as Herdman so poorly showed in the lead up to Croatia at the WC. Maybe a bit more tact and diplomacy from Marsch, I prefer that. We haven't earned the right to be anything but completely respectful to the opposition.
Great press conference
A ton of scouts are going to be either watching this game live or on tv. Let's go π¨π¦
For the first time canada has acquired an experienced coach. Given time he's capable of building a good strong team.
After supporting the National team Iβm now expected to pay in order to watch?
Go Holland Gi.
I really hope Canada goes well this year! ππβοΈπ¨π¦ This will be a huge challenge for them especially against France on Sunday for the international break. I'm excited to see how they play under this new manager and hopefully his tactics are good for the national team. Canada is definitely gonna struggle though for sure in that first match against Argentina in Copa America!
These are great to see and hear BUT so f'n awkward for the person when they get asked about the person sitting right next to them and telling the media "stuff they know"….eg: "ya he coached in Europe now he has been here how long? (ahh 3 days? ) ya etc…..NHL same shit when 2 players or more up at same time
I miss Herdman, but I really like how Marsch speaks. I'm excited.
What an exciting time! Netherlands, France, Copa America where you get to play Argentina, Chile and Peruβ¦and then you get to host a World Cup. Oh yeah, we also get to see a new coach who can take this team to a new level. Even if they donβt get a result, these are building blocks to a greater future in Canada Soccer.
I hope the canadians and on their football club to really convince Alphonso Davies to join Real Madrid this summer of 2024.
I do like seeing Davies getting some leadership responsibility. I hope that also translates to stretching for that next level, while not necessarily trying to carry the team with hero ball too much. Sometimes you just gotta take the reins but it's a delicate balance as we saw in the last WC.
Will we able to watch this game on fubo?
It will be about 3 games before you start seeing Canada click in terms of style of play , but once they get it going it will be much easier from there because they'll have a foundation to fall back on and have a clear vision of how it's suppose to look after seeing themselves on film a few times.
That is how a team grows; playing with the grown ups.
The key is young kids in Canada seeing these big games and getting inspired (a stunning result or two would help!) to pursue being a star footballer instead of a mediocre hockey player.
That will set the foundation for the program for the next generation.
