San Diego FC have acquired Mexican star Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, completing a marquee signing before their 2025 MLS expansion season.

Lozano becomes the club’s first-ever Designated Player, arriving from Eredivisie powerhouse PSV Eindhoven for a reported $12 million.

The winger, who formally joins San Diego on Jan. 1, is under contract through the 2028 MLS season with two option years. He will remain at PSV Eindhoven for the remainder of 2024.

  1. Man, does the USA want to be a top soccer nation? Stop pandering to Mexicans because it is lazy marketing just buying Mexican players. We saw yesterday with the thrashing Mexico got from Uruguay that they are a mediocre soccer nation. Stop wasting designated player money on mediocre Mexican players and buy global stars if you want to grow the league. It is this typical dumb Wasp mentality to soccer, Mexicans like soccer , USA has a lot of Mexicans, let’s buy a Mexican player. How did pandering go with Chivas USA? Failed, the Allstar game lost all global interest when it became Liga MX vs MLS because no one cares about Mexican soccer who isn’t Mexican.
