Former Premier League goalkeeper Shaka Hislop reflects on Simon Mignolet’s time at Liverpool after the club agreed to a transfer with Belgian side Club Brugge. Hislop explains why there were more positives than negatives for Mignolet at Anfield, despite Jurgen Klopp’s preference for Loris Karius before Alisson’s arrival in 2018. He also examines Liverpool’s newest goalkeeper, former West Ham No. 1 Adrian, who will back up Alisson in 2019-20.

  1. as a red, Simon was one of the best stewards of this club i've ever seen. Nothing but class from the start to the absolute end. Had the pleasure of meeting him at our local supporters bar just a couple weeks ago, and his kindness for everyone who supported him was so transparent. A bright, intelligent teammate who we'll miss, regardless of any mistakes he has made. Cheers, Simon.

  2. Mignolet was first team, got dropped for Karius then Karius left and he may of thought of becoming number one then Allison comes in yet for all the time he remained professional. Great love for him at Liverpool YNWA

  3. If mignolet played the final Vs real instead of Karius we wouldn't have conceded those 2 goals. I preferred him to Karius but let's be honest he wasn't top quality we needed to replace him to challenge with the very best. Anyways cheers to him.

  4. much better keeper than the great karius, i remember saying mignolet deserved to start over karius in 2016/17 and kept getting stick from liverpool fans, ill never forget that last minute pen save against stoke in 13/14, what a buzz! probably not good enough to be number 1 for a club as big as liverpool, but was a good shot stopper, wish him all the best, he leaves as a european champion, unlike karius

  5. Klopp has said a few nice words as a farewell to his keeper. He said he would like to keep him.. Unfortunately, Mignolet is leaving because of him. He was badly and unfairly mistreated by Klopp and some fans. Klopp brought in the lunatic Karius – to replace him – who cared for his tattoo's and hairdo more than for the Club. And when Mignolet got an offer and was ready to leave for Turkey, he was told to stay and they sent Karius instead. And there was a number of so called "LFC fans" who were constantly criticizing him, game after game and blamed him when those mistakes were done by players front of him. People should remember that he stayed behind a very shaky defence for season after seasons. No other keeper in the world could have done better job than Mignolet!!..

  6. Good fucking riddance. Useless keeper. Look how bad he was in our pre-season games, he was shite. Couldn't catch a cold in Siberia, let alone a football.

  7. Even that Klopp had some nice words for Mignolet, he left because of Klopp, who mistreated him badly. Klopp brought in the deluded Karius, to replace him without any reason. And when Mignolet got an offer to play in Turkey, they stopped him and sent Karius instead. He just had enough, not talking about some fans were constantly criticizing him for mistakes committed by the defensive line. People forget that he has stayed behind a very shaky defence, season after season. No keeper could have done better job than Mig did!.. (Do you think Allison could have done better??.. Think twice!..)

  8. shaka says we finished second with mignolet in goal but then fails to mention we conceded 51 damn goals fifty freaking one without suarez and sturridge we would have been midtable

  9. A very good keeper, but one with a major blunder in him which often happened when we couldn’t afford it. Good luck Migs YNWA

  10. I don't think anything went wrong for him
He was also one of the reason for what Liverpool have achieved now
    Seriously
Farewell mate well Served the Red YNWA

  11. Mignolet played his part in amazing 13/14, and to get us back in the champions league, deserved to be In the 17/18 team and was the ultimate pro and supported Ali in the UCL winning campaign and magnificent season, we’ve grown past him now, but wish him all the best, good luck Si ynwa

  12. he was the worst goalkeeper ever Liverpool lost the title cuz of him they had to score 6 gold every game to get win

  13. Man I remember having him in my Match Attax card during the 2014/15 PL season, the year when I became a fan of Man Utd, Simon Mignolet is so underrated. Really good goalkeeper.
