In today’s video we’ll be looking at why Man Utd are heavily linked with the signing of Brazilian Left-back, Alex Telles.

Alex Telles spent his entire youth career at local side Juventude before he made his professional debut for the side at 19 years old, facing São Jose. He scored his first professional goal just seven months later against Cruzeiro before he made a move to Gremio in December 2012. His one season in the Brazillian top flight saw him named in the Serie A team of the year before he earned a move to Galatasaray in January 2014. After starting quickly, registering his first goal & assist in just five starts, his goal returns slowed.

Impressive performances earned him a loan with an option to buy to Inter Milan in 2015. However, a red card cost him his place in the team and a permanent move to Italy, but this opened the door for Porto to replace their outgoing Brazillian left back in Alex Sandro, with Telles. After five seasons at five different clubs, Telles finally found a home in Portugal, being directly involved in 60 goals in just 127 Liga NOS appearances but where does he play?

Telles is a playmaking left back. He’s got exceptional technique which is highlighted in his passing range, with the Brazillian comfortable with both short crisp passes as well as more difficult long switches. He’s very much in the mould of a Trent Alexander-Arnold or a Joshua Kimmich. A player that’s arguably too technical for a defensive role and could perhaps be more useful in midfield areas.

Man United are not the only team in for the Brazilian left-back. So what’s next for Alex Telles? With his contract expiring in 2021, Porto are looking to cash in on him now rather than lose him for free in the summer. He’s been linked to a whole host of top European clubs including Chelsea, Spurs, PSG and Manchester United so expect him to move to one of the big boys. But with Chelsea and Spurs both recruiting in that area this summer, and Juan Bernat as one of PSG’s more consistent players, a move to Old Trafford seems the most likely move for the Porto man. And it’d make sense tactically, with him easily able to hold the width on the left to allow Marcus Rashford to focus on becoming one of the most dangerous goalscorers in the Premier league once again.

Where do you think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will finish in the Premier League this season?

  1. Would be a decent signing. Not too worried about him defensively because we're pretty solid at the back usually. It's his goals and assists are going to be much more important. For five out of the last seven seasons we've had a defensive record capable of winning the Premier League, our REAL problem has been scoring goals, not conceding them.

  2. Everything which is happening rn at the club seems a bit embarrassing and confusing. The boardroom seems to be in a continuous loop of backing managers in the first season and then not following it up in the next season. The same thing is happening with Ole atm. He got us in the top 4 which looked very unrealistic initially. I think the mood of the boardroom went down after crashing out in the europa and the fa cup semis. They were expecting a trophy which could lift the club positively but it didn't happen. I guess that negativity got carried forward in this transfer window.
Talking about Ole as a coach, I think there is a lot of room for improvement. He doesn't seem to be tactically flexible and also he doesn't trust players outside his playing XI. Using that same lineup game after game after lockdown rubbed the players to the ground which caused our game and results to drop.
I agree that we don't have that many good players on the bench to make changes un our starting XI but some sort of adjustment had to be made.
Though I blame the board for not backing Ole with signings. We've been pursuing most of the players for months now but can't get to agree terms with the other clubs. Our rival clubs have been signing players left right and centre and that has increased the frustration even more.
Talking about the signings we should've made, a cb,rw,lb and an all action midfielder were the first priorities.
Got VDB but I personally would've preferred Partey because he is an exceptional dm and he keeps the ball extremely well. Cb would've been Upamecano for sure but Leipzig agreed an extension with him even before we could move.
Rw had to be sancho but couldn't get the lrice agreed with Dortmund. Maybe Utd should just go and give them the money because Atletico did the same with felix for a ridiculous amount and he isn't even half the player sancho is.
One more reason for frustration has to be the inability to sell players. This squad is extremely bloated in the defensive and mid regions and selling them would have released some good funds to pursue the above mentioned.
All in all, I think that Utd is gonna struggle getting the top 4

  4. Play shaw as left sided centre back
    Put maguire right side
    Telles as left back

This was we got our pacy cb
The same happened to alaba in bayern who was bayern left back until speedy davies took over

    Get telles
Have bailly and lindelof as back up
    Sell smalling jones rojo

    Use money get sancho

  5. As a Porto fan, united fans should be worried about this dude. His stats are great bc he takes penalties and free kicks and bruno will be the one taking them. So, when you take that away from him, he will probably flop very badly. Offensively he’s ok at best but defensively, that’s where he’s the worst at. Can’t tackle for shit and gets sent off for no reason bc he’s a hot head

  6. Alex Telles might not have a big price tag but he should have one. The biggest star at Porto is a Left Back and he is priced as a one as well, however 25 goals/assists last season tells you this is no ordinary Left Back. This is a top playmaker producing numbers like that from a deep position, who also defends. He is an allround player and leader that will fit perfectly into this team. Lets not forget Shaw is a very good defender and has speed and power like few others and I see him becoming a CB and back up LB eventually due to Telles owning his position from when he arrives.

  7. Great thing about telles is that he’ll allow rashford to play more centrally. Rashford is much better when focused on goal. Plus telles means we are in a much better position to play with a midfield diamond
