Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen has been discharged from hospital after a successful operation to fit a defibrillator implant.
The 29-year-old Inter Milan playmaker was resuscitated on the pitch at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen on Saturday after suffering a cardiac arrest during the first half of his side’s 1-0 Euro 2020 Group B defeat to Finland.
Eriksen has returned home after having a cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) implanted.

I wish Me Erikson all the best. His implanted device should help him. I imagine he might have an undetected inherited heart condition, not unusual for young amateur and professional athletes as well as non-competitive but very active individuals.
However, it's not always so simple, and certainly not as quick, for everyone. My previously very physically active wife has an inherited heart condition and is kept alive by such a device which took many months to be surgically implanted due to the attitude of the consultant who's solution was to "wait 6 months and see what happens". If it hadn't been for a more senior consultant intervening she would have almost certainly died during that time. We had to fight tooth and nail to get a similar solution for her probably similar heart condition.
