People, the reason LDLT was not usually on the roster is because that would take a spot away from Lleget and push Roldan further down the depth chart.
Agree with you. Stoked Luca finally got a look. 1st half he was a little tentative, but definitely settled in, doing his thing. Very fun to watch- his field awareness, aggressive turns away from trouble always, ball absolutely sticks to his foot- head up. Kind of to piling on- but he IS the anti-Llegett. I think / hope Musah and LDLT are more Gio's backups. This suddenly gives us great depth in the middle. If we ever get around to more tactical variation- LDLT could also be used in double pivot as he is with club… think with work he could maybe even act as a regista as a lone 6 against a lesser opponent. So many seem surprised at his defense- but he has a fair bit of defensive responsibility at Heracles.. I mean… as much as there can be defensive responsibility in the Erdedivisie. 😜

I like his confidence in those answers about his performance. I just hope Gregg doesn't hear those answers as "the manager is dumb for not putting me in these rosters" (even though he kind of is) leading to him leaving LDT off future rosters.
If you want to play fast attacking football ⚽….you need players to get you out of your teams half. You rotate Musah and LDLT.

Luca is very talented
Our midfield is the best its ever been and the deepest part of this team. The amount of quality in those positions is so important going into big international play because you need those decisive elements in your team especially when you know you have to play on the counter against those bigger teams. We need to get our strikers on a roll next window. We need to get them confident and producing especially comfortable scoring in open play and through the middle of the pitch. Luca hada. great pass to CP10 that was so freaking close to being a goal chance but was just a a second late. If we can get those type of runs and chances next window instead of just whipping crosses in its gonna really give teams trouble. It will open up play for even more crosses and play from the wings which in turn is gonna make defenses forced to be very organized.
going forward, you gotta bring this kid in. He give you so much even if its just off the bench. I almost wish we could play more of a diamond mid field with now.

Of course it was a must win game. GGG is so…ugh.
I was most impressed with his speed with the ball at his feet. Even CP10 doesn’t have that type of speed with the ball. We need to find a way to get him on the pitch. Maybe every game. Speed can open up the pitch for everyone else.

Weird comparison but DLT is the player that many MLS USMNT fanboys thought Nagbe was. Clear technical ability and always willing to move the ball forward. Very intelligent in knowing when to pause and wait for passing options, when to recycle the ball and when to make the forward pass.
LdlT said he has been performing well in the Dutch League and he basically did what he does. He is right he deserved a shot for a while now. If we ever ran a 442 he would be a great ACM with MMA.
I think one of the big things that Gregg does to anger fans is hide information and put a gas lighting spin on things. He doesn't even tell his players the spin, so we only get the truth when a player who has been treated really poorly by him gets a chance to speak.
I forget where I first saw him in the team, maybe in a friendly in Europe somewhere, but I thought WOW, kid is something good…
I think your point about mentality deserves attention and praise. It's one reason why I'm so high on Aaronson, and you can see the same qualities in LDLT as well. Just an iron will and absolutely zero quit in him. If a game were 180 minutes long instead of 90, I'm pretty sure Aaronson would still run his ass off the entire time. Similarly, I don't think LDLT is just gonna be thankful for this one start. I think he's not giving up, and he's gonna make Musah work really hard to keep the MMA midfield from becoming an MDA midfield. Just my opinion, of course. Thanks for the video! 🙏
Backup?? He will start WC. He’s got the most upside of any us player. I like Musah but would not lock him in as starter this early.
Clearly while you want to ask questions of Luca you shouldn't ask him if he thinks the coach was wrong not to play him much or at all before this last match… but boy would I love t hear him talk well off the record about exactly that subject.

I'd rather Yunus be Westin's backup and Reyna start in midfield with LDT as his backup. This would allow us to continue starting Weah on the right wing where he has been phenomenal lately once Reyna comes back.

LDLT quickly became one of my top 3 favorite players after the last WCQ window, and he only reinforced that with his skill in Panama 👏👏👏
