What I love about Arteta's and Edu's recruitment strategy is that they are looking for players who can play in multiple positions and swap to play multiple roles. This both enhances squad depth against the problem of injuries, and makes positional rotation during the match possible (and worrying for opponents). It starts to call to mind the concept of "total football" from the Cruyff-led Dutch teams of the 70s.
