This whole "Should Ronaldo start for Portugal" conversation is so silly in my opinion. I think that for several reasons. 1. Goncalo Ramos doesn't even start for PSG this season, people still remember him because of the hat-trick in the World Cup rather than for Ramos actually living up to the hype around him. Even in that World Cup itself, against Morocco, Ramos was useless and barely did anything which makes me think that hat trick was probably a fluke rather than the rise of the new star in portuguese football 2. Ronaldo even though 38 years of age, still has a lot to offer. His finishing and physical fitness are still good enough to play for the national team. 3. More of my personal expectation, due to Ronaldo (Messi too) moving out of Europe to leagues with lesser intensity, this could allow them to conserve enough energy in order to perform in those big international competitions without the fatigue of a long european season. 4. As long as Messi and Ronaldo are playing, replacing them with anyone else is not even serious. Especially when there are little to no quality replacements.
