De jongs best position is clearly a supportive pivot role , where he does not have to be thinking about defending that much and he has the space to make some runs and exploit empty spaces , we saw a glimpse of it a year ago with busquets but we need a good pivot in order to play de jong like this. 4-4-3 did play the best football we have seen under Xavi and generally in the last 5 years after Koeman and Setien .
To be honest frenkie has made this team better he and gundogan is world class but i know we need a pivot so romeu needs to go and roberto i can't see frenkie leaving💯🔥
i wouldn't sell De Jong. He has a little bit of everything in my opinion. great Box to Box player, physical presence in the midfield, always covering defensively and can play CB if we get another red card there. in a double pivot system his attack is clinical and his forward runs in midfield always open up space for the attack. Also he's a ghost in the final third. Every run he makes goes undetected by oposing defences. His different and that's important. it makes our game plan a lot harder to defend against when there's a wild card in the line up, who could randomly run past 3 defenders to force players out of their defensive system.
Xavi also should guaranty us to bench players if not productive like his mentor is doing in Manchester City.we have an energetic center forward that is wasted on the bench while unproductive one always starts that is bad coaching.

I think we spoilt de jong ourselves by not giving him a set position we never gave him the comfort he needed, every game was a different position for him, CM,CDM,CB…

I think the idea of selling De Jong is ridiculous, the guy is now pulling his hair saying "what more can I give?!".
I don't know what more is to be expected from him, he does it all, and I've never seen a player with his versatility, and when all players were falling behind throughout the season Frankie was unmatched, and he tipped the odds in our favor so many times.

Forwards- Nico Williams Victor Roque and Yamal. Midfield- Pedri, Gavi and Zubimendi, Defence- Balde Pau Curbasi Araujo and Cancelo, Goalkeeper- Ter Stegan. I feel it's sufficient to compete against Madrid with Mbappe cos honestly if we dont have a team like this we messed up next season. Sell De Jong he can't play as a single Pivot and buy Zubimendi, sell raphina we already have a huge offer and buy Nico Williams, Sell Lewandowski use his funds to stabilise the wages of the squad since you bought Vitor Roque give him a chance if you don't give players chances how will you know they good. Sell Orio Romeu all respects to him is good but not good enough for Barca, sell Christensen except his willing to still remain as a back up to creat competition. Promote Pau Prim to be a competition to Zubimendi or better still give him a chance also. Lastly I love Xavi his a good coach So please convince him to stay. We saw how good frankie was when he played with busquets, i honestly think if we get a top cdm next season we will see the best frankie with much more freedom on the pitch.
Bernardo Silva…top talent! Financially prudent? No! Personally I think we need to prioritise a dribbling speed demon on the left; Leao, Nico or Khvicha. Christensen is not doing bad as pivot, other players should be trained and compete for the role until Kimmich comes for free in 2025.

If a coach is giving a set of instructions, how can you get the best version of a player (de Jong). It starts with the coach. The Barca system needs to be flexible and not stuck in some philosophy otherwise it won’t matter which player comes, the same will happen

Selling de jong to get a player of the same profile in bernardo silva seems silly. Bernardo is 30 and still would need to adapt to barcelona tactics which are different from city. I understand selling de jong to get an incredible pivot but bernardo isnt a pivot

To be fair to De Jong, he is being played out of his best position. Watch his games with Ajax, and his national team. Barca are not using him to get the best out of him.
