Breel-Donald Embolo (fr. Breel-Donald Embolo; born February 14, 1997, Yaounde) is a Swiss footballer, striker of the Borussia Mönchengladbach club and the Swiss national team.

Embolo began his football career at the junior school of the Basel club “Nordstern”. In 2008 he moved to the Old Boys Youth Academy, and after 2010 he ended up in Basel.

On March 13, 2014, Embolo made his professional debut, replacing Serey Di in the 90th minute in the Europa League match against Red Bull Salzburg. Three days later, on March 16, Brel’s first match in the Swiss championship against Aarau took place, which ended with a score of 5: 0 in favor of the red and blue (Embolo himself scored the last goal).

Upon reaching the age of eighteen, Brel signed a professional contract with Basel, calculated until the summer of 2019. At the end of the 2014/15 season, together with the team, he won the Swiss championship.

On June 26, 2016 he transferred to Schalke 04 for 27 million euros. The contract was signed for a period of 5 years.

In 2019, he moved from Schalke 04 to Borussia Mönchengladbach, signed a contract with the 22-year-old Swiss until the summer of 2023. The transfer amount was about 10 million euros.
