Cole Palmer is absolutely incredible as a footballer. However, I dont think there is a lot going on up top for the lad. He seems so done in the eyes, like the hamster wheel is ball, and not a lot more. As a result, I dont think things like this phase him. I dont think he has the IQ to really do anything but kick ball, which will take him far in the sport no doubt.

If Cole Palmer had more experienced, he would have stepped up earlier and claim the ball as the rightful and designated penalty taker. Considering that he had already an hat-trick, he could have decided himself to give the ball away to another player of his chosing. It would have been his decision and considering the advantage, I am sure that Ponchettino would have allowed it. Penalties can be used to boost a player's morale particulary strikers, so Nicolas Jackson had more right to take it than Madueke.

These guys need to be seeing more of how Bayer Leverkusen went about their business: working together and getting the wins. Maybe then Chelsea might be fighting for a Champions League spot and not mid-table ignominy.
