This is great news. Hopefully he finds somewhere that he can be productive. He seemed to need pushed hard to do a good job. I don’t know if he wasn’t happy or just didn’t have it in him but he was very disappointing. There’s much better production coming in.
From reports, this has been seemingly since December. The family is not happy with him playing out of position
Noooooooo! He’s worth every effort to keep. Every team needs a blue collar guy to dive, take fouls, even be the scapegoat!!! Damn I hate to see him leave. YET! I understand.
He had his opportunities…couldn't consistently hit his jumper or three…was great on defense but we need shooters and defense…I hate the transfer portal…3 year guys are hard to come by…what his family want? He had opportunities

I loved Mark, but he has a very inconsistent motor, as well as seemingly attention deficit disorder. Just didn’t seem like he was locked in consistently, he will do well wherever he goes though.
He doesn’t want to fight for A starting spot.

Can’t shoot and doesn’t finish through contact, leading to numerous empty scoring opportunities when he misses 2 free throws. His lack of shooting allowed teams to play an additional big defender to protect the paint without having to worry about guarding on the perimeter.
Disappointing but I get it… I would've loved to have seen him moved back to his freshman spot giving Duke a huge lineup and versatile defender.
The short version is this, he played well overpowering opposing wings in his first season but struggled to have consistent success vs opposing PF and mixing it up in the paint and his outside game simply wasn't developed enough.
Wish he was staying but I also wish him the best on his journey.
He needs to go Louisville!!! L's up

2 down, next to leave is Schutt and Power. Roach should take his grad year somewhere else too. Poor Stewart just got recruited over, a lot of potential for another team or just a reserve for few more years. Hope Foster can stay healthy he will be relied on for a sound decision maker. Flip and McCain and seniors leave not much left…. Better hit up that portal coach…..
All season Duke was one big guy short of having a solid starting frontcourt. Mark had moments, but lacked consistency. Hope he finds a better fit next season.
So he's either an undersized 4 or a 3 that can't shoot. Unfortunately, that sounds like it's advantageous for Duke to see him go. Honestly, the biggest thing I saw this season was largely how this team struggled with toughness. And I think guys like Flip and Mark epitomized those struggles. I'm excited to see what happens next with the team next.
