Lisandro Martinez could return for Manchester United against Brentford after the international break.

The centre back suffered a knee injury that has kept him sidelined since February.

But he is stepping up preparations for a return to action and is currently in the United States with the Argentina squad.

He is not expected to feature in Argentina’s friendlies but will train.

Sky Sports News understands that Manchester United hope Martinez will play some part against Brentford on March 30, subject to assessment and training when he returns to Carrington next week.

  1. I hope this isn't another short term return? I think he should be allowed to return when he's 💯 percent fit please. No need rushing him back

  2. Why do they keep buying players that are always injured? Martinez, Mount, Malacia, Hojlund missed many games as well. Isn’t there a system in place that can sort out the player’s strength and injury history? Or this is on the coach to blame because the training intensity might be badly designed?

  3. This is great news. But let's not forget the massive contribution from lindeloff, Maguire, Evans and Varan. Awesome effort from the defence past games

  4. He has to change the way he is playing for him to stay fit. If he continues playing like his bones are all connected with metals, he is going to get injured most of the time .
