He isn't going to play him
Thing is, most of the time we won't need him. We could have used some of his creativity and asked him to force the issue against USA but that time has passed now. The system we play works vs most teams and putting him in against France would probably be a risk. Good player for sure, just unlucky to be in the situation he's in. He could well be an ace in the hole if we're struggling to create v France, so we might still see him.

I don't think Southgate ever had any intention of playing him.He picked him for the squad just to appease the ones that called for his inclusion.And keep his good guy image intact.3-0 up against Senegal and you don't bring him off the bench.Southgate should have given him,Coady and Gallagher the experience of playing in a World Cup

The only way Southgate will put him on is if we go behind. Southgate has got his favourites and only chose Madison to please the pundits. Interesting though I’ve not heard one pundit mention him yet!

The guys got no fucking chance, and rightly so, it’s far too late to give a guy who hasn’t played an England game since 2019…. We have France next and we CANNOT risk anything like this, a couple of mistakes and we are out of the tournament, we should go with the exact same team as the Senegal game.
Really like for him to be involved in some capacity but if we’re being honest grealish / rashford and mount in his eyes are ahead of him and have the experience and the fitness already in this tournament – not saying I agree with it but must see the logic !! His time will come which will probably be when he leaves Leicester and starts playing for one of the big boys.

He should be ahead of Mount for definet. Id put him above Rashford to. A team should function as a team. Maddison LW, Kane CF, Saka RW, Bellingham CMF, Foden CMF, Grealish AMF. That would be my midfield and attack.

Southgate won’t play him. He will try and stifle France and England will lose. Southgate is a born loser, if England were 3-0 in the final with 5 mins to go, Southgate will find a way to lose, it’s in his genes.
He is far better than mount, mount is not good enough for England, mount is turning a bit into a milner every time he's on teamsheet I'm disappointed, working hard isn't enough at this level. Maddison is a class act needs a chance
As England approach the business end of the tournament, it's highly unlikely Maddison will get any minutes now. England need solidity and combinations throughout, and while Maddison could certainly play a large part in this, he's had no game time to get up to speed and it would be too much of a risk. Southgate should've given him time against Iran/Wales/Senegal. What a shame! Coady won't get any time either.
