We are about to see a major inquest into everything inside Manchester United
Ineos have taken charge of football operations at Old Trafford and will be studying the malaise inside the club.
Nobody’s job will be safe right now with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co studying the ins and outs at United.
Recruitment is a key situation at United and Ineos seemingly have questions over why one player wasn’t lured to Old Trafford.
90Min now claim that Ineos admire Newcastle United full back Valentino Livramento.
They crucially want to know exactly why United didn’t look to bring Livramento to Old Trafford last summer.
Livramento was relegated with Southampton after an injury nightmare and Newcastle pounced to sign him.
Newcastle paid £32million rising to £40million for Livramento, a major show of faith in the former Chelsea defender.
Livramento has only started seven Premier League games this season with Kieran Trippier still nailed on as Newcastle’s first-choice right back.
Newcastle clearly believe that Livramento has huge potential but United may yet try their luck with a new move given that love from Ineos.
We can understand why Ineos may be a little baffled by United’s lack of interest in Livramento.
A young, talented full back who can play on both sides of defence, Livramento could have offered depth and a long-term solution at right back.
£40million may have been a bit rich for United at the time though, especially with Erik ten Hag focusing on signings like Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.
Still, Ineos like Livramento and so does Dan Ashworth.
United are expected to land Ashworth as the club’s new sporting director – and he is the man who brought Livramento to Newcastle.
The Athletic even claim that Ashworth wanted to sign Livramento at Brighton and Hove Albion before finally signing him last summer.
Ashworth may well arrive at United in the near future and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him target Livramento once again.
