Despite a makeshift back 4 for the win over Fulham, Aston Villa were a much better team for the return of Pau Torres. He marshalled the defence brilliantly and has become a key player for Villa and their shape.

I turned off off Girls Aloud for this, this be better be ,Ike good
Pau is so important for us, crazy impact.
Plus ,Torres's passing is brilliant. Always straight to the player ,very, very rarely a misplaced pass. UTV.
Konsa is the best defender we've got, but Pau Torres is arguably the most important player in the whole squad for the way play
I agree about Pau and I think Emery was right to be patient in not bringing Pau back too quickly.
Unfortunately Mings is still out for the season. The reports of him being at training was just that, it was there for some physiotherapy.
I don't believe its a coincidence that Villa's performance levels started to drop after the Arsenal match, we just about won the next Prem match against Brentford when Pau picked up his injury and since then our energy, off the ball movement and intensity steadily took a nosedive. Its not all on Pau by any means as there were other injuries and Kamara's red card came at a really poor time.
But the way Emery has the team set up our tempo is often driven from the back by Pau and sometimes Emi will share that task. But when we are having a poor run of form, having Pau at the back driving things can really help to compensate and give us that extra edge we need to get ugly wins or draws. So glad to have him back.
And a shout out to Lenglet, it was great to see him have a really good game too. I noticed how he seemed to be sharing the responsibility of the long passes etc as well, perhaps to give Pau a break as this was his first match back.
