Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min and his South Korea teammate Lee Kang-in have made peace and publicly apologised to each other following their altercation during the Asian Cup. The confrontation occurred during a team dinner the night before South Korea’s semi-final defeat to Jordan, resulting in Son dislocating his finger while trying to break up the fight. Lee, 23, visited Son, 31, in London to reconcile, and both players posted on social media to express their apologies. Son stated that Lee reflected on his actions and apologised to the team, and that the senior players would take special care of him to help him grow as a person and player. Lee admitted his regret for his behaviour and promised to have a more respectful attitude in the future. The South Korea camp at the Asian Cup was reportedly divided between senior and younger players, with Son feeling that some of the younger players were not taking the tournament seriously. South Korea were considered one of the favourites but were eliminated in the semi-finals by Jordan. Manager Jurgen Klinsmann was dismissed after the tournament.
