Diogo Dalot often gets criminally underrated in a United shirt, and he’s had a really tough time of it in the 6 years that he’s been with us. Like most United players, he’s learned from many coaches, including Mourinho, Ole, Carrick, Rangnick and now Ten Hag. He’s a modern day full-back playing in an often disjointed team, and that can really have a negative effect on the performances of Diogo, but at the moment he’s established himself as a big key player. Let’s talk about him…

Steve could you do a breakdown of INEIOS buying 25% of United. Is it 25% Glazer 25% public = 50% or 25 %Galzer then he can buy up all public shares ? Or is it exactly 25% ? And what % will the Glazer's have left ?
The guy is 24. With new wave of things in motion, betterment of the squad and taking his consistency into account he has much higher ceiling than one would think.
He’s the most underrated player right now in united most consistent player
Dalot would be perfect on the RW for me.
GG
in terms of raising the floor, eliminating weak links, we have three or four positions before we get to Dalot at RB: centre back; a true CDM pivot; a reliable LB backup; and another non inverted winger (preferably on left side)
I've always felt that the fullback position was among the most difficult to play well as there is in the game. That's why it's rare to find a standout fullback that is also young. They tend to need time to develop both offensive and defensive awareness and instincts as well as have speed, box to box stamina and guts.
Since Dalot came to United, he's been that player that has awesome flashes of talent and ability but then again disappears for periods of time.
This season has been Delot's best yet and has made EtH pencil him on the starting sheet consistently. He really is beginning to be the player we all thought he could be.
I think he's solid, always works hard and genuinely understands what it means to be a United player. He's definitely got another level to go to aswell considering he's only 24, which is no age in the modern game. I think he could work on his left foot a bit more, but he's got a good football I.Q and he mirrors Shaw very well tactically. No complaints with the lad at all really, and I think it would cost an awful lot to replace him with someone who was a marked improvement.
Both Dalot and Wan Bissaka have shown good improvements.
I watched right up to the advert then it was goodbye
People criticised Shaw as a young player too and wanted him gone. Crazy how giving young players more than 2 seasons to develop and mature professionally and personally makes them better players in the long run
He’s one of those players you won’t truely appreciate until after he’s left the club
We all know that if Madrid or another bigger club comes knocking for Dalot he will go. If he goes I expect at least €60-€70 mil. I wouldn't want him to go. But if it happens I'd hope United spends that money wisely.
The ball dalot put in for the overhead kick is absolutely inch perfect. Garnacho gets the flowers but that ball from dalot made it possible
Lool, dalot is 24, he's got 2-3 years to his peak, I hope he can keep his form for longer periods.
So glad Diogo is finally getting his flowers
PSG V UNITED dalot kicked the ball that caused the handball of which Rashford scored the penalty.
Dalot does deserve to stay. He has steadily improved over the years.
I've often in the past questioned if Dalot was good enough to play for United and I also think this season is Dalot's last chance to show he can have consistantly good performances – because that's been his problem until now that he couldn't. I'm still not 100% convinced about him but I totally agree he's been more consistant this season and has had some really good performances lately. Let's hope this continues but anyway I think United will sell Wan-Bissaka in the summer and at the same time buy a new player coming in to compete with Dalot. No, the weakest player in United's team at the moment is Bruno who looks burnt out and that's worrying. Ten Hag needs to give Bruno a break when Mount is fit or even give Eriksen the chance now or I'm afraid Bruno will burn completely out before the season ends.
I think we need a new rb but for me it has always been dalot over awb because he better going forward and wanbisaka is the best tackler but his defensive positioning is shocking dalot seems to have been getting better at it
YOU must be doing something right when Cristiano Ronaldo himself names you as a player who is going to be top player
Many United fans including you Ste haven't seen the quality that Dallot is . up until the world cup last year he was exceptional ! few little injuries slowed him down and AWB came in and everyone was sucking him off…….. Dallot is 5 times the footballer AWB is
Ste – Until Rio said what he did the other day you've repeatedly called him guff and not up to the level.
next year I guarantee everyone inc you Ste will be saying" fuck me how good is he "
It's about time he's getting recognition for his performances this year.
People dont see when times he stands at the post n clears goal threats when everyone else had no chance of saving the goal
Dalot is crap as a RB, end of. He's had a few decent attacking moments this season and everyone is going crazy but as a defender he's been absolutely awful for the most part and has given away so many goals this season its unreal
He actually looks better at left back to be honest but i'm just not having all this.
The cross for McTominay was literally all Mainoo brilliance he just swung it in.
That said he has played pretty well these last couple of games. He's managed to somewhat getaway with his defensive deficiencies.
AWB should be starting over him all day long and it shouldn't even be a question
Lets also not forget, he's one of the only backline players we've had this season who has been available throughout, availability is the best ability.
When he gets injured we go into panic mode. That pretty much says a lot about Dalot
i think its down to garnacho being on the wing with him which makes him the "senior" – meaning he's getting to make more decisions himself rather than waiting to see what a more experienced winger wants to do
that particular extra weight on an experienced players shoulders sometimes massively improves their own performance because they know they are more relied upon, giving them an extra feel good factor
Ive been wondering when he was gonna get his praise. He’s been playing so many minutes and has been pretty consistent and way less error prone. Great player to have in the team
people think im crazy
but id love to see Maguire partnered with Mainoo in front of united's defense – he's too slow for the back line but his aerial ability is off the charts, he can pick out a pass, he can drive forward, and he can tackle.
if you watched the villa game, you'd have noticed they cut through the middle of united quite easily with Casemiro there, he's definitely close to his end, both him and Mctominay are red cards waiting to happen when they play a full 90min, and Erikson just doesn't defend
i genuinely believe Maguire could reignite his career as a CDM – and United would instantly have less goals scored against them, probably score more too
How many times do we have to go through this with players that are ultimately not good enough? So many in the last decade.
He's been hounded enough times, and then has the fan club strike up after a good run before it goes to pot again.
If INEOS get it correct, many players as well Dalot will be replaced, and we'll be better for it.
Just putting it out there… Can we start pronouncing his name correctly?
It's not french, so you pronounce the T, like dot
I think he's earned that little show of respect
I think you miss spelled "Average" it's not spelled as consistent
The biggest compliment I can give Dalot is that I am no longer worried about his defending.
That was always my worry with him but this season, he's improved massively with well-timed tackles, impeccable blocks, and brilliant covering.
Well done, Ste
Also Dalot has the smoothest and natural stepover game since Ronaldo’s era. He’s a beast when it comes to this kind of trickery even though he doesn’t use it that much since he’s a defender.
