Japan head coach Hajime Moriyasu addressed the racist abuse faced by Zion Suzuki online on Tuesday, following his performances against Vietnam and Iraq at the press conference in Doha ahead of their crucial Asian Cup Group D encounter against Indonesia.

Mariyasu condemned any use of discriminatory or human rights violating comments against his goalkeeper Zion Suzuki and emphasized that the team will do their utmost to support him.

Japan lost to Iraq 2-1, their first loss to the Iraqis in 42 years, as their hopes of making it to the round of 16 hangs in the balance.

Japan are on three points in Group D and need a win to guarantee a place in the knockout stage.

Indonesia are on three points after their 1-0 over Vietnam and need a win over Japan to finish second in the group.

  1. He is of mixed race. But his features presents as melanin. Still some Japanese don't see him as Japanese. But are the same ones telling us how not racists they truly are. Zion will break barriers. He will go far and show all the mixed Japanese boys and girls to never give up.❤❤
