Hey Spen, I know you read my comment during the live stream, but I can't stress enough about how people are sleeping on Fede Valverde. Okay, he's 24, but we're discussing current ability. I'm not actively watching BVB's games, I must admit, but based on every England fan's reaction with Bellingham's performance in today's game, I can definitely tell that you haven't watched Fede play. I'm not arguing just for the sake of the argument, but I am genuinely impressed with Valverde's performances during the past 2 years (he was having performances similar to Jude's today about 3 years ago). When the leagues start again, I urge you to watch only a couple of Real Madrid games and you'll see what I'm talking about. The way that guy just DOMINATES all the pitch (sometimes even from a RW position 🤯) simply blows me away. I consider myself lucky because he's playing for my favorite team, but he's a real treat to watch 👍. He simply leaves it all on the field and he plays with such passion and love for his club.
As for England's chances against France, I don't know, it's really hard to tell. It's the kind of game which can really go either way. Mbappe is known for going missing in big games where the opponent has enough fire power to outscore his team, so that might also happen if England's midfield manage to annihilate their French counterparts. As a neutral, I'd really like to see a high scoring game with several changes of tides, but I know that's somewhat unlikely (knowing Southgate's philosophy). Maybe if England go into the half time break trailing by 2 goals, they could be shooting for a comeback with an all out attack strategy in the 2nd half. That would definitely be a treat to watch.
If I absolutely had to chose, I'd like England to go through just because I'm not a big fan of what Mbappe did last May, and I would not want him to be officially crowned as Ballon d'Or after this World Cup 😒. I'd rather have English people chanting "It's coming home" and talk about Bellingham as Jesus's 2nd coming 😂.
