Report: Liverpool could now sign ‘excellent’ star set to play in England tomorrow, Klopp’s scouts are impressed
Liverpool want to keep a very close eye on Anderlecht defender Zeno Debast and have sent scouts to watch him multiple times this season.
90Min claim that Jurgen Klopp has sent observers to watch the centre-back on many occasions this term and the reports have always come back ‘excellent’.
The report claims that the Reds face competition from Klopp’s former club Borussia Dortmund, who have also been watching him.
And Liverpool should get a chance to watch Debast in England tomorrow night (Thursday) against West Ham in the Europa Conference League.
The 18-year-old has only made fewer than 20 starts in his fledgling career, but has already earned a call-up to the Belgium senior squad and started against both Wales and the Netherlands in their most recent Nations League fixtures.
“This was one of the most impressive debuts in recent years for the Red Devils,” said Red Devils boss Roberto Martinez.
“I have never seen such a young player make his debut so well. I enjoyed it. I saw a young guy with a lot of self-confidence, but also a lot of desire to learn.”
Liverpool look well-stocked at centre-half, but Klopp has signed a number of promising young players during his reign, for the next generation.
This Reds side is one of the older squads in the Premier League and a lot of players have come into their prime at the same time.
Fresh blood will be needed, and if Debast shines on English soil, it could catch Liverpool’s eye even more, although their more pressing concern is getting their season going again and they face Rangers tonight.
