With the January transfer upon us, there are plenty of rumours around Nottingham Forest potential transfers, both players coming in and those heading to the exit door.
With the shaky form of both the new goalkeeper signings from the summer Turner and Vlachodimos, are Forest tempted to dip into the transfer market for a new keeper? There is rumours of a return to the City Ground for old flame Keylor Navas. Navas is currently still in France with PSG, but with no first team football this season he could be tempted back to Nottingham, but is it the right decision for Forest?
As for exits from the City Ground, Scott McKenna looks set to be heading up north to join Celtic this month, the Scottish International has been linked with a number of different clubs, but with the Celtic showing interest he could be tempted to move back home.

Iav didn't think that he was that good enough iav agree with you
With the owner having clubs it not really going to work he needs to decide on what clubs he wants otherwise he needs to shell
I wouldn't take Navas back, or take De Gea there is a reason why he hasn't been any club wanting him on a free. I agree that there have to be better options available
Navas so much better than the other 2
Navas once upon a time was great, when we had him, he parried shots back into play. He is older at 37 years old, if we get someone he should be aged 26-30 and top quality.
Turner is still very good, if only he could kick the damn ball
No thanks
Sub prime Navas is still better than Prime Turner or Vlach. It’s a no brainer for me if you can’t get a Ramsdale on loan.
I liked Navas but wouldn't choose him, as I would prefer a younger, less injury prone GK. Since Nuno is an ex goalkeeper himself, I'm sure he can find us a top keeper from somewhere.
As much as Im thankful for what Navas did, im not sure how this helps us. He'll either be on loan (so a temporary fix) or we'll sign him but his age means we'd maybe get 2 years out of him, also the fairy liquid gloves are not something i want to see again.
I'd be up for another loan of navas he's a bit of a club legend after last year. But really we need to get a permanent young up and coming GK as navas is getting on in age
Navas would take some of the panic out of playing from the back!
Well it’s a BIG No from me like you said there are better & younger keepers out there some one like Ramsdale if it’s only a loan
Not convinced with Navas better ball distribution but would rather have Johnstone or Ramsdale if possible
Brilliant wolve we need Navas back
Let’s get Navas back!!! Absolute quality even at his current age
If we get navas, he will be incredibly in a nuno system. He's still not my first choice tho
TURNER NEEDS TO STAY – HE CAN BE FIXED – CANNOT JUST THROW AWAY 10M
Has Worral gone yet? Serge Aurier and Felipe need to get packing as well. And Horvath. Must be great being paid thousands for doing nothing but "training"
We should get Navas back, You can't blame him for the goals conceded as out defense was terrible.
Yesss,a great move get Navas back till summer & then re assess! No brainier !
Steve Cooper now to Birmingham?????????
I think podence is a very capable player in the past and is still only 28 years old. Would take him personally!!
Turner is good just needs coaching to help him out of silly errors.
Navas? We know his quality but he needs to be cheap, £200,000/week is waaay too much. Otherwise, move on.
90% of the shots he saved and parried out he really had no right to save … yet our fans moan where is was parried to.. seriously. We haven't done better tho gave we … look who we have
No to navas I agree with you wolverine. Mckenna can go and I'm glad about Martins. I would prefer sa or ramsdale over de gea
Correct me if I'm wrong sure he got man of the match against arsenal with his saves even with are shit defence and low block any keeper in the world will concede that many goals if your sitting that deep and letting ball come at ya for 90 mins
DefenatlyNO
Go for Samba
imagine samba, one can dream
Let Nino head the recruitment team after all their’s his players
He's not a solution…
NO.
Pity we couldn’t temp Brice back
Navas would be behind a stronger defence/midfield than last season. It isn't just the keeper that concedes. As for the two we've got Turner is the better option. Yes the sphincter twitches when he get's the ball to feet, but his shot stopping is streets ahead of Vlach who stops next to nothing. I've replayed the whole season more than a few times and it is as clear as day, that watching Turners movement to save is better than Vlach. Vlach actually costs more goals than Turner overall during defensive failures.
I've also done a stat check of Cooper v Nuno to see what if anything has changed and the answer is just one thing has changed. The comparison is the Cooper 4-3-3 period of 9 games with the 3 Nuno games. The first figure is Chances made, the second figure is chances on target then goals for and against in that order. Then the conversion ratios Shots to On target and On target to goals.
Cooper (9 games)…..84/33/9-15……39%….27%
Nuno (3 games.)……..34/11/7-5……..32%….64%
All but 1 of the 15 goals conceded when Cooper tried to play forward came from or included individual, or defensive errors. All of the goals conceded under Nuno were from similar errors. Under Nuno we are creating marginally more chances per game, but the conversion to shots on target is lower. The shots on target is precisely the same for both managers and the one thing that has changed is conversion to goals where the "New manager bounce" has led to a massive rise in goal conversion of shots on target. So that is the only difference between Cooper and Nuno. The question is as to whether this is the approaching window and/or players stepping up to become the managers number one, or whether tactical changes have made a difference. Also bear in mind that both Wood and Elanga would have wanted to punish the teams that rejected them.
Caveats…Cooper spent every game from Luton onwards under a cloud and continued to encourage players forward until the Fulham game. Where he went for a low block to try to save himself. Nuno has had the full support (obviously) of the top of the club in these early days. The sample size for Nuno is small, but with players in and out over the window, and Afcon (which will force similar changes to injuries, meant these games form the only player for player direct comparison available. I have not considered possession which for me is simply an indicator of the class distribution of players (which does change with a sending off), and isn't always relevant in chance creation.
If the goals from mistakes are removed from both managers then we concede 0 under Nuno and 1 under Cooper in the sampled games. So to compare the essentials.
Tactically both managers create a directly comparable number of shots on target which suggests that both systems of play worked the same outcome. Defensively the players never improved as the goals from errors were also directly comparable. Finally if the shot conversion to goals for Nuno stayed as at did under Cooper then just 3 goals for would have gone in. I'll let you decide the re distribution of those three. If the reverse were true and Cooper had the players converting at 64% then the goals for would be 21 goals for instead of 9. In essence Cooper was a bit unfortunate as only the players can step up in focus to convert chances, and only the players can step up to stop screwing up at the back. Cooper always said the players needed to concentrate more in key moments. It seems they still do.
The conclusion (for me) borne out by the figures, is that the difference has come from the players stepping up (for the usual reasons), and not the managers tactical set up. So in Cooper and Nuno we have two great managers, who with better players, or players playing at their best at both ends would do well at this level. It will be interesting to see if the change in forward momentum continues or dries up after the window. If it doesn't then those defensive errors need to go (as under Cooper). I for one am hoping for the forward momentum to continue. The unlucky Cooper is gone so long live the Nuno days of luck up front.
Happy new year everyone. Be well.
I can't say I ever wanted to date Navas but I'd totes hang out with him
Being Navas Back!
I don't see why we're gunning for Navas, I understand our defence was poor last year but he certainly didn't live up to expectations for me tbh. I feel like we should definitely be looking at someone younger and longer term.
If Navas is fit then go get him…
Rather have Ramsdale
No to all three!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Forest looking at Aaron Ramsdale, who Arsenal want to sell.
I think Navas may be past his sell by date!!
Don’t forget under Cooper we played low block football inviting teams to swarm around our penalty box for 80% of the game resulting in our goal being peppered from all angles so 32 goals in 17 games I would say is pretty good, Nuno’s style would suit him so much better than Coopers,.
