Swansea City Association Football Club is a Welsh professional football club based in the city of Swansea, South Wales that plays in the Championship. Swansea City represents England when playing in European competitions, although they have represented Wales in the past. They play their home matches at the Liberty Stadium.
The club was founded in 1912 as Swansea Town and joined the Football League in 1921. The club changed their name in 1969, when it adopted the name Swansea City to reflect Swansea’s new status as a city.
In 1981, the club were promoted to the original Football League First Division. It was during the following season they came close to winning the league title, but a decline then set near the season’s end before finishing sixth, although a club record. It was from here the club suffered a relegation the season after, returning to the Football League Fourth Division a few seasons later, then narrowly avoided relegation to the Football Conference in 2003. Prior to playing home matches at the Liberty Stadium, the team had previously hosted at the Vetch Field. The Swansea City Supporters Society Ltd owns 20% of the club, with their involvement hailed by Supporters Direct as “the most high profile example of the involvement of a supporters’ trust in the direct running of a club”.
In 2011, Swansea were promoted to the English Premier League, becoming the first Welsh team to play in the top division since its formation in 1992. On 24 February 2013, Swansea beat Bradford City 5-0 to win the 2012-13 Football League Cup (the competition’s highest ever winning margin for the final), winning the first major English trophy in the club’s history and qualifying for the 2013-14 UEFA Europa League.

  1. As a referee in the Czech Republic, I also give a yellow to both of them… Luton player wanted a quick play and when he was in upswing, Swan player kick him ball away and he hit his leg instead of ball.. It's beautifully seen at 1:36.. First yellow for Swan player for unsporting behavior (And for that behavior he also get another punishment cause of kick) and then yellow for Luton's for foul.. If you've ever played football, you surely know, when you're in upswing, it's impossible to stop.. I think referee did pretty good job in this curious situation.

  2. Well…we effed that up. Fair play Swans though. Build up play for their first goal was great.

Am glad we have a few robust (thug like) players now. It wasn't much fun getting bullied away at places like Barrow on piss wet Wednesday nights in January.

  3. I am shocked with Swansea’s squad I am a Brentford fan and we beat them in the play offs 2-0 and it’s almost like they have given up not a good club and not a good result for them if they want to get promited

  4. Bender is terrible, I don’t understand how someone can go from not playing at all to first team choice! FairPlay on the other signings but we really needed to loan a new keeper, we would be next to unstoppable with a more experienced mature keeper

  5. Surely that was a red card , but credit where its due a good fightback to get a much needed point. The boys are going to need this spirit of never give up this season I think I do hope I'm wrong so good luck boys⚽️⚽️⚽️👍

  6. Fair play Swansea, that was a gutsy recovery. We’ve snatched last minute away draws vs Blackburn Rovers and Bristol City so maybe this was football karma. Looking forward to the return fixture under the lights at the Liberty 29/12. Best of luck for the rest of the season, no doubt you’ll be in the mix again for the play offs.

  7. I'm a Chelsea fan and I wanted to see the incident in regards to the yellow card to the Luton player number 23. That disgusting filth of a player needs to be banned for life and his mate should be banned for a long time as well. Pity the Swans didn't do them 4 3.

  8. Ntcham you should come to AEK Athens when you had the chance. Next year you would play in the Europa or Champions league.
    Poor decision for your career.
