The Red Devils appeared lethargic against Stoke City, possibly feeling the effects of their midweek exploits in the Europa League. They dropped two points against the team who were rock bottom of the table going into the game after Joe Allen cancelled out Anthony Martial’s opener.
Jose Mourinho is sure to be upset with David de Gea’s goalkeeping for the goal but he should be thankful it is not a lot worse. After all, they could have been left with ten men with the game still at 0-0.

However, he completely missed it and his studs landed perilously close to his opponent’s groin. He received a yellow card for the incident but it is clear the card should have been a different colour.
Tellingly, former referee Howard Webb was under no illusions that it should have been a red card.
Webb said on live TV: “Referees deal with consequences and not intentions. All the studs go into the thigh of Joe Allen at real height and with some force. So that is a reckless tackle that endangers the safety of the opponent.
“It’s clearly one that Herrera got away with.”
