  1. France squad is definitely better than ours and Portugal's probably is, too, despite the fact they also have a shit manager. Our attack is as strong as it's ever been and we have genuinely great players elsewhere but it's not as consistently strong as those two. This level of ignorance/arrogance is partially why everyone hates us.

  2. Spain are coming on strong again. Looks a perfect blend of youth and experience. The squad may not contain the superstar status players of their golden era but they’ll still dominate possession against anyone and in Rodri they have the best player in the world in the key position

  3. Yes. England absolutely can win it. You have one of the best squads in the world and one of (if not THE) best league in the world. England is a genuinely massive football nation. That’s always been the case.

However, is your squad so much better than France, Spain or Portugal? I’m not sure. Sides like Belgium and Croatia could beat you on their day too. So I don’t think it’s nailed on for England at all.

You have a gimme of a group though. So you should get to the knock outs at least.

  4. Theres too many cheats in football to win internationally.
Look at whos won, France, Italu and Argentina.
The only decent ones were Germany but its been dry since then

  5. I don’t think we necessarily have the best squad I don’t know where this has come from?

I’d argue Spain, Portugal and France are all on better form and have a better squad than England

  6. To say England "undoubtedly" have the best team and "nothing comes close" is typical delusion. They have a very good team but France's is even better and both Portugal and Spain certainly come close.

  7. England supporters have a toxic mix of arrogance, ignorance and low self-esteem. Whenever a game against a top team is coming up, people predict a "typical England" loss against a supposed superior team, but if they win it's because those teams are not big teams any more (Croatia, Germany), and if they lose it's because the manager bottled it against a team they should have beaten (Croatia, Italy, France). It's bizarre.

Southgate had to use a midfield of Henderson, Dele Alli and Lingard against Croatia in his first World Cup, who had Modric, Rakitic and Brozovic to call on, but apparently it's only the emergence of an amazing golden generation that has allowed Southgate to become the second most successful England manager in history. I think people have forgotten how bad things were before Southgate, the ordeal it was to watch (or more importantly, play for) England back then. Don't assume that when another manager comes in that thing will not just regress to the mean in that regard.

This "he's useless" narrative is just another example of how simpletons will reach for the most low-effort, low IQ explanation that makes them feel secure in their own superiority. It's other people, other things, other decisions that are stupid – not them, never them…

  8. england has had better midfield and defense in the past. southgate has got them playing better than the golden generation. this is the best england attack ever seen though. bellingham is an attacking player.

france still have more talent. spain still has better technique.

  9. England had great teams in 90, 96, 02 & 06 so this notion that this is the best ever England team & southgate is “lucky” is very disrespectful. We saw equally great england sides FAIL and do much worse…Is he a world class manager? No, but he has created the environment that has lead to England being a relevant national team again. England only problem is know how and the experience & character needed to get over the line in tight games…Croatia had more know how in 2018, Italy 2020 & France in 2022. Hopefully those experiences will help the players get things right next year but this idea that a team like France or Portugal can be overlooked is typical English arrogance from that Rory

  10. Having "the best group of players undoubtedly" is VERY kind to england, its a great team sure, but portugal and france are up there as well, and arguably better than england

  11. How are you still so delusional after so many disappointments. How can you say you have the best team on paper by far, France has easly a better team, most of your team has achieved nothing great football, you saying they are great players doesn't make them great

  12. I honestly think that England won't have a better opportunity to win a major tournament than now (by "now", I mean the next few forums). And that's because two positive things coincided – England producing a wonderful group of young players and Germany, and arguably Italy, being in unheard of crisis. Usually, Germany and Italy are behemoths in Europe and win the medals at every forum. Now, they are totally beatable teams (regardless of the fact that Italy won the last Euros). If we disregard them, there really arent any serial winners in Europe left. France, Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands have probably the best players, but they are prone to collapses and defeats. So, England have a great chance of actually winning next year.

  13. England have a great side but Rory needs to chill out. It's simply not England's best ever team. The Rooney, Gerrard, Beck's, Terry, Scholes Ferdinand side is LEVELS above this.

Portugal are the team to beat they aren't getting their flowers by anyone it will be between them and France. They both have far better squads.
