I couldnt believe my eyes! Saying "no skills" is not really true. Bale had great technique and ball control, he knew and was able to "knock" that ball past someone at the right time and in the right situation. Simply running with the ball as efficiently and fast as him (including change of direction and pace) demands a lot of skill.
You had many fast players who were nowhere near as good as him at beating people. Btw he was still a very good dribbler at the time he retired even though he lost half of his pace. I think, on open space, he's the scariest player I've seen besides prime Henry.
But yeah, he had freaky pace and is one of the most gifted athletes I've seen in the game in this century. Shame he had so many injury problems at Madrid.
